Exporting silence via "WAV files (ffmpeg)" produces distortion once re-imported and normalised, just as libsndfile does, as I said in my original post. Try it. So even if ffmpeg is more accurate than libsndfile, it still messes enough with the zero samples to create the distortion after normalize? In answer to Michael, I've only tried exporting 16 bit files (AIFF and FLAC also) when reproducing this issue. One minor issue: after chosing "WAV files (FFmpeg)" for export, when I go back to export, the filter is preset to "WAV Microsoft 16 bit PCM". Gale |
