I'll see something like that gets put in. I did recently see something similar on the Forum, but including images for the steps involved. I was going to add it, or a link to it, somewhere on the Wiki. Matt's steps are probably short enough to go into the "Recording Quality" mini-tutorial in the Manual, if we have that. If we get to write the tutorial "Your first recording", we might have images for setting up the test there. In answer to Chacko's question in that thread, I got near identical latency measured when recording the click track as it played off the soundcard, compared to recording it with the microphone from a headset (3 ms more for the headset). Would I have expected that result? I'm not sure, but I guess the advice for users is test with the device you're going to record with at the time you're going to record. I know when i have I have done this test on different occasions on the same machine/microphone/Audacity version, the results can be +/- 10 ms different anyway. Gale |
