Darren, When you make with the '-k' you just keep going after any errors. You're usually better off without '-k' so make stops at the first error. I see that your compile line has -Werror which causes all warnings to be treated as errors. There are lots of compile warnings, so it's not surprising that your compile fails. Most are due to implicit type conversions that could be questionable, but usually are ok. Many quality engineers will insist on warning free compiles for commercial development. I'm not sure which option to configure is adding that -Werror flag to the makefile. I'm also on Ubuntu, version 7.10, and I don't have that flag come up from configure. I'm not enabling debug though. If you leave off the debug when you configure, does it build? It builds fine here, even with all the warnings. Since submissions to this list get emailed to everyone, personally I think it is much better to have the link to your web page so only those that want to look need to get the listing.
