She gives her specs below. | | David | From: Clare N. Shumway <cn...@vo...> | Reply-To: Discussion list for Audacity users | <aud...@li...> | To: aud...@li... | I'm running Audacity 1.1 on a Mac running OS 9.2.2. The most | recent version of Audacity (1.2;.6) will not run on OS 9.2. David Sky | tried to help buthe is not familiar with the Mac. | | I've been able to get good recordings of 33 1/3 and 45 rpm | discs but I really want to make some CD's from old 78 rpm platters. | | Version 1.1 will does not have the capability to change the | speed of the recordings. I thought that it might be possible to make | a recording at 33 rpm and take the resulting AIFF file to a friend | that has a mac running OSX; apparently the speed was increased but | there was no way to play and/or save the final output. | | Is anyone aware of any other Mac applications that can change | the speed of a recording? Hi David I don't understand if Clare exports an exported AIFF of her recording and takes it to a friend, what is the problem running Change Speed from 33 1/3 rpm to 78 rpm then exporting the AIFF file from 1.2.6? As a workround, Clare can do this herself by recording her 78 rpm at 45 rpm, then click the downward-pointing arrow where it says "Audio Track" on the Track Panel: http://audacity.sourceforge.net/onlinehelp-1.2/menu_track.htm click "Set Rate", then "Other" and enter a rate that is 73.333% higher than that she recorded at. For example, assuming she recorded at 44 100 Hz (which is the best, safest choice) enter 76440 and hit OK. Set the Project Rate bottom left of the Audacity screen to 44 100. Now do: * Project > New Audio Track * Edit > Select All (or CMND + A) * Project > Quick Mix * Some silence will be added to the end of the track which can be selected and deleted. Clare can now export the track at her 44 100 Hz Project Rate and should have an AIFF file that can be played in iTunes or other application. Gale Andrews Outbound message virus free.
