[Sorry I meant "new "exporting" text, not "editing" text. Corrected here. - Gale ] Here is my attempt at the attached. It includes Vaughan's new version string. Have tried to slot text into the same format already used (this is causing translation headaches?), except for the (file format) help. This is still #ifdeffed, though I have rewritten it to allow for FLAC and AAC (on Macs) being supported, and shortened it compared to the FAQ. My vote is that it should be part of the inbuilt help rather than going to the FAQ, unless the viewer can't cope with another page. The recording page is the longest, but it isn't all that much longer than before even with monitoring added. I have limited platform differences to the minimum (I think) we can get away with. If we feel it's still too long, we'd have to prune it and rely more on / target towards the relevant Wiki pages. In view of its length, I added an additional Welcome link at the top. The new exporting page is probably going to scroll as well, but I tried to cover all main user confusions with saving and exporting I could think of. Should the editing page be called "Editing and Greyed out Menus" instead of "Greyed Out Items"? Three other points: 1 Do I presume you cannot backspace to go back with this HTML viewer? 2 Can the Welcome Message be changed so that it is a normal separate window (like Undo History) that can be task-switched between while using the rest of the program? Its usefulness will be compromised if not, in my view, as users will want to refer to it while working. 3 The Preference "Show Splash Screen at program start up" should I think be changed to "Show Welcome Message at program start up" because it's not referred to as "Splash Screen" anywhere else AFIK. Sorry i have only seen this after Vaughan did some Preferences changes, but I think I should add it to the wording Wiki. Gale |
