sorry I wasnt very clear :) I meant the whois info reports that the geographical location of the owner of avconverter.com is the "yukon territory, Niger", I know there is a yukon territory in Canada, but couldnt find a "Niger" in the Canadian Yukon Territories...I figured there maybe a Yukon territory in Nigeria.... Legality wise I think its clearly illegal. Searching the dev mailing list for previous posts on 'avconverter.com' the consensus seemed to be that it is in clear breach of the GPL. Gale also summarised to that effect. For avconverter.com to legalise their offering they should clearly show a link to download the source code on the site and include the GPL license. Judging from what modifications he has made he has altered the main source code and hasnt just added libraries. The guy also claims sole authorship! Dominic stated that it wasnt worth getting into a fight about it, the last time it was brought up. I am suggesting attributing copyright to the 'free software foundation' (whilst retaining authorship attribution) and then informing the free software foundation of the breach in their copyright. Apparently they are more likely to go after the infringers. If the avconverter.com registration is in Africa, then its probably not worth doing....but if it was in Canada......
