I just checked the Google AdSense for Search setup. It allows | up to 3 site-specific search URLs (i.e., possibly another two radio | buttons beyond the way it is on audacity.sourceforge.net), but | | * not a radio button that combines two sites, and | * the "...domain name must not contain the forward slash ('/') | character" so we can't put the wiki specifically (or the forum) if | we put audacityteam.org. | | The problem with this, of course, is that we lose the specificity | between forum and wiki search. | | But how about the search on both audacity.sourceforge.net and | audacityteam.org offer the option to search either of the others? It seems with advanced search on most search engines you cannot have it grab from multiple individual domains. So much for that idea. I suppose if we search audacityteam.org from the main site so get Forum results as well as Wiki results it does have some benefits. Questions: Do we need the web search on the main page e.g. do we lose revenue by removing it, so we then we had the option on Wiki of current site or audacity.sourceforge.net, and on the main site of the current site or audacityteam.org? Or, if we have a banner for the Wiki (were you suggesting that?) does it actually make sense if that has its own search box for audacityteam.org? Or if we had two smaller banners, one for the Forum and one for the Wiki, then might an associated audacityteam.org search box make more sense? If we switch Wiki search to Google, do I assume then we cannot search the Wiki alone? I am not sure if that's such a good idea. Gale Outbound message virus free. Tested on: 9/17/2007 11:32:10 PM |
