Either one is an improvement, though! | | - Dominic I guess option 2 is better too. (Sorry) what does the default search order actually do? Looking at the places where lame_enc.dll is in my computer (aside from the location from which Audacity uses it), it looks as if a lot of users would have it anyway, of one version or another: C:\WINDOWS2\system32\lame_enc.dll (I don't know what put it there) C:\Program Files\Winamp\Plugins\lame_enc.dll C:\Program Files\Common Files\EZB Systems\lame_enc.dll C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ahead\AudioPlugins\lame_enc.dll C:\Program Files\Acoustica Mixcraft\lame_enc.dll C:\Program Files\CD-EX\lame_enc.dll If Audacity wants to do a quick selective search, a lot of users will have Winamp (a media player) and Nero burning software (Ahead). I guess we may have to think that the places Audacity searches first should be those that are more likely to have an up to date copy of the dll? Gale Outbound message virus free.
