George, This is an annoying situation. We can't use VST directly in Audacity because the VST header files are not open-source compatible. :( So unfortunately the only solution we have is to support the LADSPA interface in Audacity (which does not include support for labels!) and then implement the VST Enabler, which is a LADSPA plug-in. Steve Harris, are you listening? Will LADSPA 2.0 include the ability to create labels??? One solution is that we could create an Audacity plug-in interface that has all of the features we want. I'm not sure I want to create yet another API that looks the same as all of the others... What about a socket-based interface? Has anyone written an audio processing "plug-in" system that is based on a bunch of programs sending packets around? :) One thing I like about that is that it's language-neutral. I'm still big on writing plug-ins in Python! George, as for you, I'm afraid that right now your only solution is going to be to add your functionality directly to Audacity. We'd also love your help improving Audacity's plug-in interface but that will certainly take more time. Can you tell us more about what your plug-in does? - Dominic On Jun 22, 2006, at 5:24 AM, George Fazekas wrote: > Hi All, > > I'm working on a uni project that requires to set markers and > labels in wave files. > My first implementation uses the VST Offline interface and works > well in Wavelab. > I would like to make it work in Audacity as I prefer using a multi- > track environment. > > I understood from the VST Enabler source that the functionality I > need is not implemented, > at least not in the available source code.
