Beginning with the compilation of the wxWidgets source code,
under Windows XP (home) operating system.

After downloading wxWidgets, and sucessfully running setup.exe, 
we are directed to the install.txt file in the docs/msw (micro soft windows) 
directory for further information on compiling within the Borland C++ 
environment.

The directions are for using the Borland C++ command line compiler.
I have Version 5.5 which came with the Borland C++ Builder 5 Standard.
I believe I saw it mentioned on a web page that I browsed pass rather
quickly, that this command line compiler is actually free for anyone who 
wants it.  

Now, following the directions, the WxWidgets library compiles without 
errors.  Though the name of the library now incorporates the version 
number, and is no longer wx32.lib.  The warnings about having file names 
and paths too long, and/or spaces in file or directory names do not seem to 
be relevant with this version of the Borland compiler, as my directory and 
file names are readable english with spaces and the compilation proceeded
without a glitch.  Though it would be easier to type all of that stuff in if 
everything was kept short.  

Again, this is NOT done inside of C++ Builder 5's Integrated Development 
Environment (IDE).  It is done with the Borland Command Line Compiler.

(Looking at the tmake template (b32.t) that generates the 
makefile (makefile.b32) for this compilation process for wxWidgets, 
it looks very complex, so I imagine that a makefile that will allow the 
compilation of the Audacity project using just the Borland Command 
Line Compiler, is going to be a project all by itself.)

But, we will take it one library at a time.  Don't tell me that I will
have to create a Borland specific make file for each of the libraries
Dominic listed?  I hope that's only my imagination speaking.
