For real-time work, yes, but for simple recording, it shouldn't be necessary to mess with priveleges at all. Audacity uses 5-second buffers. You don't need real-time scheduling to handle things at that timescale. On both Linux and Mac OS X, I don't have any problems recording with the latest versions of Audacity. I'm very curious about under what circumstances people are still having dropout problems. - Domini |
