A small bug is either back or still in effect. I've got two soundcards in my system, a standard ESS 1969 card and a professional RME Digi-96. The standard system device is the ESS 1969(use it for gaming) and thus Audacitys default as well. When changing the I/O prefs, to the Digi96 Waveout and In, Audacity just crashes out and will not start up again, unless I delete its registry tree which eliminates the prefs. Our 1.0 and previous versions were all fine with this setup, so it's probably some whacko Portaudio issue. In any case, this bug crept up months ago and its still here. If there's a special version you'd like me to test on my system, go right ahead and stash it somewhere for me to get. I'm on Windows XP Sp1/Athlon 600MHz . This morning, while testing shortcuts, I discovered some editing behaviour that I think should be reviewed. When I copy anything from a track, and whish to paste it on that same track beyond its current boundaries, it will APPEND or PREPEND the material if the cursor is placed beyond or before the track's end or start. Wouldn't you agree that it should place the material where the cursor is ? It should place the necessary amount of silence inbetween the pasted material and the original track material if required. The question is, should this behaviour be changed ? The way our clip based system works, it's not a bad idea to simply Duplicate the wanted material, even though the duplicate still doesn't turn up beneath the source track(!), and then timeshift it around, and if necessary, quickmix it with the source track. Now I have to read the other posts. Tony |
