Perhaps we could release a 1.2.0-pre1 on Monday? I'd like a little more time to call a string freeze and marshal the translators. This will also give the developers some more time to test the past weeks' checkins before turing them loose. Could we make it one week from Monday? I would also be a bit more conservative on the version numbering. I don't want an unstable release with a "stable" number to reflect badly on the new version, and I also don't want to see the 1.2.0 "pre" phase drawn out for 6 months. But then, I haven't been working with HEAD lately so I'm not really sure how close we are. You might want to consider waiting another release before calling it 1.2-pre. Right now we have visible regressions from 1.0 (e.g. label tracks), a lot of our core code is recently rewritten, we don't have file format compatibility, and the new file format is buggy (can create invalid XML). I'm not sure I want to aim for wide user testing until more of these issues are fixed. |
