I've made a couple of new "experimental" binaries available at: http://www.homerow.net/audacity There's Windows and Mac binaries. I'm sorry I wasn't able to provide a Linux binary as I ran out of space. But, I suspect that it probably isn't much use anyway due to the differences in libraries. The patch applies to CVS HEAD as of about 1pm on 12/19 and it contains: images/Aqua/*Square.xpm: 1) Removed stripes from images images/MixerImages/MicAlpha.xpm: 1) Converted to monochrome images/MixerImages/SpeakerAlpha.xpm: 1) Converted to monochrome images/SliderThumbAlpha.xpm: 1) New file to provide masking of slider thumb src/AColor.cpp and src/AColor.h: 1) Added DrawFocus method to draw a focus rectangle around AButtons and ASliders src/AudacityApp.cpp: 1) Moved init of AColor system to very early in execution src/AudioIO.cpp: 1) Prevent some exceptions if there aren't any audio devices available. src/BatchCommands.cpp and src/BatchCommands.h: 1) Added ability to load and save command chains src/BatchProcessDialog.cpp and src/BatchProcessDialog.h: 1) Added names to controls 2) Allow clicking of Cancel (or pressing ESC) without doing anything else. src/ControlsToolBar.cpp: 1) Fixed Cleanspeech button 2) Set button sized based on Up image to allow for masking 3) Use a different sized focus rectangle to accommodate the round buttons src/FreqWindow.cpp and src/FreqWindow.h: 1) Allow for different platform fonts 2) Add masked drawing of frequency window 3) Make choice and button control consistent sizes and positions 4) Added status bar to allow for (and display) resizing thumb (Don't try to use it in place of the stats info box...it updates too slow) 5) Added labels for each choice control 6) Plotting done during size rather than paint events to reduce redraw time. src/Makefile.in: 1) Added TrackPanelAx.o to list of objects src/Menus.cpp: 1) Added commands (Ctrl+F6 and Ctrl+Shift+F6) to cycle among the ToolBarDock, TrackPanel, and SelectionBar frames. 2) Allow for different command keys based on which frame has focus 3) Moved a fair amount of cursor movement code into TrackPanel where the "other part" of the code resides. 4) Added EnsureVisible() to a few more cases (there's even more though) 5) After track deletion, ensured that another was visible src/MeterToolBar.cpp: 1) Added names to the meters src/MixerToolBar.cpp: 1) Named the choice control 2) Added masked drawing of the play and record bitmaps src/NoteTrack.cpp: 1) Made adjustments to correctly draw the track label src/Project.cpp and src/Project.h: 1) Moved selection timekeeping to TrackPanel 2) Removed existing TrackPanel/SelectionBar focus handling 3) Removed SelectionBar key event intercepts (Handled by new frame specific command processing) 4) Ensure a track is focused and selected after loading/importing src/SelectionBar.cpp: 1) Named controls 2) Added WXGTK keyboard processing for navigating frame (This will be removed in the next update) 3) Allow SelectionBar to redraw while Choice list is displayed 4) Removed existing focus handling src/ToolBar.cpp: 1) Don't allow grabber to get focus 2) Named the grabber 3) Fixed the highlight (or mouseover) drawing 4) Ensure tab order is correct when docking/floating bars 5) Removed unneeded Aqua them background drawing src/ToolsToolBar.cpp: 1) Reordered the tools to make them like previous versions src/Track.cpp and src/Track.h: 1) Added ability to automatically iterate over linked tracks src/TrackArtist.cpp: 1) Moved init of AColor system to Project.cpp src/TrackPanel.cpp and src/TrackPanel.h: 1) Added handling of track focus and accessibility 2) Fixed track menu popup not popping correctly under Linux 3) "Cleaned" up click handling of track label 4) Corrected click handling on NoteTrack labels 5) Removed a couple of unnecessary FindTrack()s 6) Ensure that cursor position is in view horizontally 7) Removed a little size/position hard coding of track controls src/TrackPanelAx.cpp and src/TrackPanelAx.h: 1) New files to support TrackPanel accessibility src/TranscriptionToolBar.cpp: 1) Named choice control 2) Removed Mac background painting src/CommandManager.cpp: 1) If a command isn't allowed, inform caller (This assists the new frame specific command handling) src/effects/*.cpp: 1) Added names to controls src/effects/Equalization.cpp and src/effects/Equalization.h: 1) Included Martyn's new plotting code 2) Added ability to save curves 3) Allowed for different platform fonts 4) Made it sizer based src/effects/ladspa/LadspaEffect.cpp: 1) Added names to controls src/effects/nyquist/Nyquist.cpp; Today at work ordered one of these _http://www.dolphinmusic.co.uk/page/shop/flypage/product_id/7550_ (http://www.dolphinmusic.co.uk/page/shop/flypage/product_id/7550) for a trial and am shortly to order 20 of these Macs Z0CY to go with it/them for video post production. Any opinions on if the sound card is a good plan? I want my students to be using professional quality kit but am on a tight budget. And I'm not looking for several 100 posts on PS vs Mac here! Not really the right place to post this I know, but I trust you guys. |

Hey! As it was promessed, I did the mockup for a new interface for =20 Audacity. It's a lot techno, so maybe a lot of you wont like, but =20 this is just a sketch to show the general idea. I think how great it =20 would be if the interface could be controlled with CSS or something =20 like that. It would be easy to make themes. Well, my interface has the same features as in original audacity. <http://img217.imageshack.us/img217/5112/interfacexx6.png> Changing the background: <http://img63.imageshack.us/img63/2766/interfacebluecx2.png> Do not forget, this is just a mockup/sketch and it has not been =20 worked. I think this transmits very well the information, giving some =20= sort of impact to the audio track area. Please post what you think =20 should be inproved. Oh, and someone tell me, please, how can I try this on the real =20 audacity. Thanks a lot, Gon=E7alo Vaz de Carvalho= |

Hi, Is it possible to add an item to a submenu dynamically without rebuilding the whole menubar? (or a serious hack into command manager) I found how to modify the label of a menu using CommandManager- >Modify, i'm thinking of something similar to add a new item. thanks, George |

Hi Bob, you can download the source of soundtouch library from http://www.surina.net/soundtouch/ take the soundtouch-1.3.1.tar.gz file near the bottom of the page. Then remove the installed libsoundtouch items from your system; both libsoundtouch and libsoundtouch-dev (easiest way to do that, is with synaptic) extract the soundtouch-1.3.1 arch-file and then do the normal ./configure , make , sudo make install cycle regards Juergen |

Hi Richard, I tried compiling the source code of audacity which you sent(built wxWidgets 2.8.7 DLL debug build). I used DLL debug mode for audacity too and got the following error: Error 1 fatal error LNK1104: cannot open file 'libvamp.lib' Audacity I had already gone through the links related to cvs which you sent. I am not able to open port 443 at all. However I think that method is only for developers who have SSH access. I am right now checking out the tortoise cvs development list archives as you suggested.... R Raviprakash |

hi, good day. i am having my thesis by now which is the 'vocal range recognition plug-in'. this will be added to the features of audacity. the plug-in will recognize the vocal range(soprano, alto, etc.) of the user, from a pre-recorded voice. i have some of the source codes needed for my study which i got from your forum. i would like to ask on what compiler should i use to compile those codes? what language will i use to continue with this project? i am more comfortable with c++. and how to start my implementation.? thanks a lot. i really need your help. regards. haze |

As you don't tell us what code you have downloaded or what platform you are developing on it is impossible to say what compiler you need. For compiling Audacity you can try looking at the information on our wiki: http://www.audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php?title=Developer_Guide If you are writing code for inclusion on core Audacity then it will have to be in C++. Plug-ins for the LADSPA plug-in interface can be written in any language that can be used to create a standard dynamically linked shared library. Richard Ash |

Just for background, Hazel has (I presume) downloaded our HEAD code and (I presume) is on Windows. I was trying to help her as best I could on the Forum before she got here: http://audacityteam.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=7273 Please tell us for certain what platform you are on. If it's Windows, then Visual Studio 2005 will give you the fewest problems, because that is how we currently build on Windows. Your first step is actually to build Audacity from CVS. I was also concerned that we did not want to re-invent experimental work that's already been done, such as Andreas' Find Notes. Depending on your other goals, it may be worth considering making a Vamp plugin. This is a plugin format for audio analysis plugins (which accept audio as input and produce something else, such as labels, as output). Audacity has some basic support for them. A Vamp plugin would be immediately useful across a broader range of applications, but would have more limited integration into Audacity. See http://www.vamp-plugins.org/ for more information (and some plugins, an SDK, and other hosts to download), and http://www.vamp-plugins.org/guide.pdf for a programmer's guide. (I would like to update Audacity's Vamp plugin support to the Vamp 2.0 SDK just released, now that my head is above water again after a lot of work on making Vamp 2.0 and various related updates, but I'm not sure how that would sit with the feature freeze currently under discussion.) Hey guys, I found a bug in libsndfile 1.0.16 which is present in Audacity 1.3.7 (from the win32 installer) on WinXp (x86/32bit) causing it to crash with a heap corruption error when loading certain types of WAV files. I noticed this because Audacity would crash if I tried to open any WAV files exported from Adobe Premiere CS3. All other kinds of WAV's I threw at it were fine, just ones from Premiere... weird. I tore through the code for a while and found this repro would always cause it: This file: http://baltimorebarcams.com/tmp/thebadness.wav With this code (both in audacity and standalone): SF_INFO info; SNDFILE *file; memset(&info, 0, sizeof(info)); file = sf_open("thebadness.wav", SFM_READ, &info); sf_close(file); Would always crash with: HEAP CORRUPTION DETECTED: before %hs block (#%d) at 0x%p. CRT detected that the application wrote to memory before start of heap buffer I did some more testing and found out though that it doesn't crash with libsndfile 1.0.19 though. This is all pretty much a non-issue since you'll probably be upgrading pretty soon anyway if you haven't already, but since I spent a bunch of time I thought I'd report my results. Thanks, Audacity is really great. -Dom P.S. if you need to get in touch with me, just CC me because I'm not subscribed to the list. |

According to the README in lib-src/libsndfile, our version of libsndfile is now at 1.0.18 (updated a couple of weeks after releasing 1.3.7). Have you tried your Premiere files in our latest Nightly Build: http://www.gaclrecords.org.uk/audacity-win-unicode-1.3.8-alpha.zip The file you link to above does not crash for me with that build, though I agree it crashes 1.3.7. You will probably want to unsubscribe from this list by going here: https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/audacity-devel then either subscribe to our -users mailing list: https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/audacity-users or if you only want to make occasional enquiries, ask on the Forum instead (registration required): http://forum.audacityteam.org/ Audacity already has a delay plug-in underneath the divider in the Effects menu. Have you tried that? I'm not convinced this Voxengo plug-in will do much in Audacity except alter the volume. It looks to me if it's really meant for delaying the signal sent by VST instrument plug-ins (these are not supported in Audacity) then routing it to a chain of VST effects. Using the latest 1.3.8 Beta, you can run VST effects in Audacity by extracting the contents of the plug-in zip file into a folder (or installing the plug-in if required); then put the .dll file from the folder you extracted or installed into inside the "plug-ins" folder located inside the Audacity installation folder. For Audacity 1.2.6, see this procedure instead: http://audacity.sourceforge.net/help/faq?s=install&i=vst-enabler Gale |

Audacity does not natively support .avi format or MP3 export. Audacity can use FFMpeg and LAME, though these libraries are separate from Audacity (optional downloads). See here for FFMpeg: http://ffmpeg.org/ For MP3 export, see http://lame.sourceforge.net/ Steve On 19 July 2012 07:30, Narendra P <nar...@ni...> wrote: > Good Morning , > > i want develop a tool that tool convert .avi to .mp3 > > so can i change the source code if yes can you give me guide > > i want to add the tool in effect menu so how can i put that tool in > > that menu so can you help me > > and also how can i use these libraries to my required tool > > if thare is any small individual tool source code send to me > > and how can i compile the source code > > what libraries are required to me > > and send a small sample code for single tool > > Thank you > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ > Live Security Virtual Conference > Exclusive live event will cover all the ways today's security and > threat landscape has changed and how IT managers can respond.
