That sounds like a good combination, although from your earlier post it appears that I will need to wait for the Windows distribution to get loaded on SourceForge before I can get started. I'll get started tracking down the rest of the Perl components. =20 Chris -----Original Message----- From: ars...@ar... Ram, The API itself will not return the data in XML format, to the best of my knowledge. You would need to massage your returned data set a little bit... that's the beauty of Perl, of course.... the ease at which you can take that data and put it into the output format you would like. Thomas, =20 I have had no luck compiling it on Windoze either... :-( Jarl is about the only person I know who has managed it. He did compile 1.84 for me last week sometime, but I don't know if he's sent it to Jeff to be added to the sourceforge.net site yet. I believe he's on vacation right now (Jarl). =20 He said that he compiled it with VCToolkit: http://msdn.microsoft.com/visualc/vctoolkit2003/ <http://msdn.microsoft.com/visualc/vctoolkit2003/> . =20 =20 Matt Reinfeldt Senior Production Support Specialist Entuition Inc. Hi, This is a little off topic, but maybe someone has done this before and can help me out. I'm attempting to use sqlplus to create a csv file, and it works fine, expect for one problem: "id" ,"number" ,"firstname lastname" ,"0" ,"the rest" There are spaces between each field which I would like to remove so that it looks like: "id","number","firstname lastname","0","the rest" Does anybody know how to make this work in sqlplus? I tried to remove the blanks with the following command: cat input.csv | tr -d " " > input2.csv but it removes all the blanks, even those I would like to keep (like firstname lastname) Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks, Ron Scotiabank Information Commmons, University of Toronto |

There is a problem with the 1.84 distribution compiling against a 5.1 =
API (API version 9 in my case)
=20
Simply comment out all the bad code and it works like a champ, even =
though all the automated tests fail. :)
=20
I have run ARSDoc using the newly compiled modules/shared objects and =
everything at first look is just fine...
=20
See comments below... Remember to update the .template files first, then =
run Makefile.PL and then make
=20
The files you are going to have to mangle are:
ARS.xs
> // ARArchiveInfoStruct infoStruct;
>=20
> // hv_store(RETVAL, =20
> // "archiveInfo",=20
> // strlen("archiveInfo") ,
> // perl_ARArchiveInfoStruct(ctrl, &infoStruct), 0);
>=20
> // hv_store(hash, "sampleSchema", strlen("sampleSchema") , =
newSVpv(in->u.tableLimits.sampleSchema, 0), 0);
> // hv_store(hash, "sampleServer", strlen("sampleServer") , =
newSVpv(in->u.tableLimits.sampleServer, 0), 0);
>=20
> //#if AR_EXPORT_VERSION >=3D 8L
> // &infoStruct,
> //#endif
=20
The entire "perl_ARArchiveInfoStruct(ARControlStruct * ctrl, =
ARArchiveInfoStruct * in)" procedure found around line 2500 in support.c
=20
Support.c
> //hv_store(hash, "option", strlen("option") , =
newSViv(in->option), 0);=20
=20
Support-h.template
> //EXTERN SV *perl_ARArchiveInfoStruct(ARControlStruct *ctrl, =

Scott, Set TEST_VERBOSE in the Makefile to 1 and rerun 'make test'. It should give you more info as to why the import or delete fails. Test 2: The errors you are seeing at line 41 are normal. The code appends a value to an undefined variable. This causes a warning but still places the value in the variable. What version of GCC are you using? We are using gcc version 2.95.3 =
20010315...
The reason I ask is that I also had to remove this line from the =
following line from Makefile.PL (around Line 97)
> #$AUTODEFINES .=3D " -Wno-unused-variable -Wuninitialized " if =
$Config{'cc'} eq "gcc";
It was complaining about the -Wno-unused-variable not being a valid =
option.
If there is anything I can do to help in terms of testing just let me =
know. :)
Thank you VERY much for all the work and attention! :)

I am trying to compile the 1.84 package against 5.1.2 p1280 (API v9)
remedy libs... In my environment, described below, 1.82 is just fine and
dandy but dead as a duck for 1.84
First off, there are several things that, at first glance, need to have
#if AR_EXPOERT_VERSION tags around them...
e.g.
ARS.xs
> // ARArchiveInfoStruct infoStruct;
>
> // hv_store(RETVAL, =20
> // "archiveInfo",=20
< // strlen("archiveInfo") ,
> // perl_ARArchiveInfoStruct(ctrl, &infoStruct), 0);
>
> //#if AR_EXPORT_VERSION >=3D 8L
> // &infoStruct,
> //#endif
Support.c
> //hv_store(hash, "option", strlen("option") ,=20
> newSViv(in->option), 0);
And when I run make test I get this:
[scbarr@devrmdy-0101 /opt/ar/ARSperl-1.84]$ sudo make test amazon.com
authorized use only. scbarr@devrmdy-0101 Password:

Well this is groovie!
I am trying to compile the 1.84 package against 5.1.2 p1280 (API v9) =
remedy libs... In my environment, described below, 1.82 is just fine and =
dandy but dead as a duck for 1.84
First off, there are several things that, at first glance, need to have =
#if AR_EXPOERT_VERSION tags around them...
e.g.
ARS.xs
> // ARArchiveInfoStruct infoStruct;
>
> // hv_store(RETVAL, =20
> // "archiveInfo",=20
< // strlen("archiveInfo") ,
> // perl_ARArchiveInfoStruct(ctrl, &infoStruct), 0);
>
> //#if AR_EXPORT_VERSION >=3D 8L
> // &infoStruct,
> //#endif
Support.c
> //hv_store(hash, "option", strlen("option") , =
newSViv(in->option), 0);
And when I run make test I get this:
[scbarr@devrmdy-0101 /opt/ar/ARSperl-1.84]$ sudo make test

Mark,
It is not altogether clear, not to me anyway.
I had a look in the ar.h file and also in the driver print.c to understand
it.
The external keyword is indicated in the ARQualifierStruct when the
operation == AR_COND_OP_FROM_FIELD.
Exerpt fron print.c in the driver program.
ARQualifierStruct *value; /* IN; value to print */
...
switch (value->operation)
...
case AR_COND_OP_FROM_FIELD:
DriverPrintResult("%s Operation: EXTERNAL OPERATION\n", header);
I guess that the current perl version does not support the EXTERNAL
operation.
An interesting thing about your example is that it says:
EXTERNAL('600000053')
and not as I would have typed it:
EXTERNAL($600000053$)
I created a menu with my syntax and saved it, and when it is reopened it
gives me the EXTERNAL('600000053') syntax.
This is not very good I think, as the EXTERNAL() reference the value on
the current form, not the form you are searching in...

All,
I am using ars_perl_qualifier to get the structure of the struct, but it
seems to be missing EXTERNAL entities.
=20
Here is the qualifier portion of a dump:
{menuQuery}{qualifier}{left} (HASH) (3 keys)
{menuQuery}{qualifier}{left}{left} (HASH) (2 keys)
{menuQuery}{qualifier}{left}{left}{oper}: |rel_op|
{menuQuery}{qualifier}{left}{left}{rel_op} (HASH) (3 keys)
{menuQuery}{qualifier}{left}{left}{rel_op}{left} (HASH) (1 key)
{menuQuery}{qualifier}{left}{left}{rel_op}{left}{fieldId}:
|300317500|
{menuQuery}{qualifier}{left}{left}{rel_op}{oper}: |=3D=3D|
{menuQuery}{qualifier}{left}{left}{rel_op}{right} (HASH) (1 key)
{menuQuery}{qualifier}{left}{left}{rel_op}{right}{value}: |0|
{menuQuery}{qualifier}{left}{oper}: |and|
{menuQuery}{qualifier}{left}{right} (HASH) (2 keys)
{menuQuery}{qualifier}{left}{right}{oper}: |rel_op|
{menuQuery}{qualifier}{left}{right}{rel_op} (HASH) (3 keys)
{menuQuery}{qualifier}{left}{right}{rel_op}{left} (HASH) (1 key)
{menuQuery}{qualifier}{left}{right}{rel_op}{left}{fieldId}:
|301058600|
{menuQuery}{qualifier}{left}{right}{rel_op}{oper}: |=3D=3D|
{menuQuery}{qualifier}{left}{right}{rel_op}{right} (HASH) (1 key)
{menuQuery}{qualifier}{left}{right}{rel_op}{right}{queryCurrent}:
|600000083|
{menuQuery}{qualifier}{oper}: |and|
{menuQuery}{qualifier}{right} (HASH) (1 key)
{menuQuery}{qualifier}{right}{oper}: ||
=20
And here is the actual qual string:
( 'System Status' =3D "Active") AND ( 'Account Instance ID' =3D $60000008=
3$)
AND (EXTERNAL('600000053'))
=20
Does anyone have any thoughts about how to get this info?
=20
Thanks,
Mark

Gary,
You should be able to find the information by performing a ars_GetField()
for each field you want. The information would be found somewhere in the
display properties of the returned Field Properties Structure.
Unfortunately the C-API-function GetMultipleFields() does not seem to be
implemented in ARSPerl...
