Hi all,
I just downloaded the ARSperl-1.90. When I run 'perl =
Makefile.pl', it is asking me for the server name, username, and =
password. Can someone let me know how to get a username/password, and =
how to know the list of valid servers?
Further, my intention was to use ARSperl to access Remedy =
(http://remedy.amazon.com) and query it based on Category/type/item, =
severity of tickets etc.,. Can you point me to some resources where i =
can find some examples for this?
I checked the /examples which came along with the distribution, =
in vain. Also, i checked the documentation on =
http://arsperl.org/manual/toc.html, but could not find what I needed.
Any Help ?!
Thanks,
Deepak

Hello, I'm experiencing problems on one of our testing linux boxes with the new ars version. Note: On my local system ARSPerl 1.90 runs fine (arslib-7.0.1 and arsperl 1.90, ARCH Linux current, gcc 4.1.2). I get an error, in combination with __ctype_b_loc. The output is as follows: [Wed Mar 14 10:40:26 2007] Main.pl: Can't load '/usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.6.1/i386-linux/auto/ARS/ARS.so' for module ARS: /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.6.1/i386-linux/auto/ARS/ARS.so: undefined symbol: __ctype_b_loc at /usr/lib/perl5/5.6.1/i386-linux/DynaLoader.pm line 206. The testing systems are running the same configuration as the production servers do, so don't wonder about the low perl version number. Compile environment: Linux (RHEL) GCC 2.96 Perl: 5.6.1 Does anyone know what this error means? Any hints what to look at? Kind regards, Georg |

The example/ directory has a bunch of examples. Try example/Dump_Users.pl .. but first you will need to edit it and change line 79 from @entries = ars_GetListEntry($ctrl, $SCHEMA, $qual, 0, [], to @entries = ars_GetListEntry($ctrl, $SCHEMA, $qual, 0, 0, [], jeff On Tue, 2007-03-13 at 14:05 +0100, Serouche Rahimpour wrote: > dear all, > > will somebody be very kind and provide me with a little script so a > novice like me can see how this arsperl works. > It has been (apparently) successfully installed on my SunOs 5.9 against > ARServer 6.00.01 > Many thanks > Serouche |

dear all, will somebody be very kind and provide me with a little script so a novice like me can see how this arsperl works. It has been (apparently) successfully installed on my SunOs 5.9 against ARServer 6.00.01 Many thanks Serouche |

You should probably edit the Makefile instead of Makefile.PL because gcc will complain about -xO3 -xdepend. So you'll want to change CC=gcc and then edit out or convert the -x... flags to something that gcc will accept. what I did to solve this issue: 1- add the /usr/local/bin to my PATH . It's where my gcc is installed 2- edit the Makefile and changed the CC = cc for CC = gcc That did it. The preference for "cc" probably comes from the settings in the Config.pm file of your perl interpreter (presuambly to be found at /usr/perl5/5.6.1/lib/sun4-solaris-64int/CORE). This means that perl itself was compiled with "cc", and an ARSperl for this perl installation might not be compileable with gcc at all. Nonetheless you might try to edit the generated Makefile after running Makefile.PL (there should be a line "CC = ..." somewhere). If it doesn't work, your options are: - Installing (which means probably purchasing) Sun's native compiler. - Compliling a separate perl interpreter using "gcc". Regards, Thilo Stapff > Dear listers, > > on SunOs 5.9 make gives me the following error > > cc -c -I/opt/remedy/api/include -D_LARGEFILE_SOURCE > -D_FILE_OFFSET_BITS=64 -xO3 -xdepend -DVERSION=\"1.84\" > -DXS_VERSION=\"1.84\" -KPIC > -I/usr/perl5/5.6.1/lib/sun4-solaris-64int/CORE -g -DARS32 -DARS452 > -DPERL_PATCHLEVEL_IS=6 -DPERL_SUBVERSION_IS=1 -DPERL_BASEREV_IS=50 ARS.c > sh: cc: not found > *** Error code 1 > make: Fatal error: Command failed for target `ARS.o' > > I have gcc installed on my machine. Michiel is probbably right that the DLLs come with the admin tool. I too have Xalan-C_1_4_0.dll and xerces-c_1_7_0.dll in my client directory (where user and admin tool are installed). If you don't have the possibility to install the admin tool, I could send you the DLLs. I'm aware of this. Anyway, arsperl seems to be linked against 1.4.0, and in the binary package for windows of Xalan-C, there is no Xalan-C_1_4_0.dll. That's actually the problem. Also, Xalan-C seems to need Xercas-C++ in version 2.1.2 (instead of 1.7.0 as arsperl). Kind regards, Georg On 2/14/07, Michiel Beijen <mic...@gm...> wrote: > Xalan is an xslt processor. Xalan is an xslt processor. I guess it does not come with the user tool but with the administrator tool installation. I have a copy of the file in my Remedy 6.3 client directory. Anyway, it is an open source component from Apache, you can download it from http://xml.apache.org/xalan-c/ and earlier versions are at: http://archive.apache.org/dist/xml/xalan-c/ Kind regards, Michiel On 2/14/07, Georg Grabler <ggr...@gm...> wrote: > > I do have the user tools installed, but in this directory there is no > Xalan-C library. > I've already searched on my C harddisk for the dll, nothing found though. > > Even thought, the user tools work perfectly, also in my path the > library doesn't exist (of course). > > It seems as if Xalan 1.9 ships with the 7.0 user tools. > > Since the ARApi version shipping with the client and the one in the > package are absolutely the same file (checksummed), i assume that it > should need the xalan library. I do have the user tools installed, but in this directory there is no Xalan-C library. I've already searched on my C harddisk for the dll, nothing found though. Even thought, the user tools work perfectly, also in my path the library doesn't exist (of course). It seems as if Xalan 1.9 ships with the 7.0 user tools. Since the ARApi version shipping with the client and the one in the package are absolutely the same file (checksummed), i assume that it should need the xalan library. This actually confuses me, since the library is nowhere in path, nor in the user tool directory. Do you have a 6.3 Remedy User Tool installed? The Xalan-C_1_4_0.dll should be in the user tool installation directory. ARSperl only needs to find it, but that's easy because Windows handles DLLs somehow like excutables: add the user tool directory to your systems PATH variable and it should work (don't forget to start a new DOS box after the PATH change). Worked so far for me, thank you. Now i only have troubles with the ars library itself, but i guess that on this list nobody could help me out telling me how to get the Xalan-C binary Xalan-C_1_4_0.dll for the arsapi 6.3 package from arswiki? (1) Look up the table field properties (form, columns, qualification) in
the admin tool.
(2) Implement a combination of ars_GetListEntry/ars_GetEntry to retrieve
the data, using the information from (1). Basically it will work like this:
my $qualStr = qq/'$fieldId' = "$value"/;
my $qual = ars_LoadQualifier( $ctrl, $form, $qualStr );
die qq{ars_LoadQualifier( $form, "$qualStr" ): $ars_errstr\n} if
$ars_errstr;
my %entryList = ars_GetListEntry( $ctrl, $form, $qual, $maxRetrieve,
$firstRetrieve );
die "ars_GetListEntry( $form ): $ars_errstr\n" if $ars_errstr;
my @fieldIds = (); # get all fields
foreach my $entryId ( keys %entryList ){
my %entry = ars_GetEntry( $ctrl, $form, $entryId, @fieldIds );
die "ars_GetEntry( $form, $entryId ): $ars_errstr\n" if $ars_errstr;
}

ARSperl defines its own strcasecmp/strncasecmp functions for the windows platform, probably those aren't available in the Visual Studio libraries. MinGW (and probably Cygwin) seems to have those functions, so there's a collision. You'll find the function definitions in the following files: supportrev.h: line 96 supportrev.c: line 2429 Try replacing the "#ifdef _WIN32" directive by "#if 0" or something similar that's always false. Hello, I've tried to compile ARSPerl using ActiveState's Perl port and MinGW (3.4.2). I downloaded the ARS API from www.arswiki.org, version 6.3 and 7.0. As I understand it, you always need to use the same compiler as was
originally used for perl, regardless if you have gcc or not.
I'm a bit confused by the "make"-output. For some reason "make" thinks
it has to call gcc, but passes some command line options (those starting
with -q) that seem to belong to the native compiler (according to Google).
>>> gcc -c -I/mnt/mike/arsperl/api/include -D_ALL_SOURCE
-D_ANSI_C_SOURCE -D_POSIX_SOURCE -qmaxmem=16384 -qnoansialias
-DUSE_NATIVE_DLOPEN -DNEED_PTHREAD_INIT -q32 -D_LARGE_FILES -qlonglong
-O -DVERSION=\"1.84\" -DXS_VERSION=\"1.84\"
"-I/usr/opt/perl5/lib/5.8.0/aix-thread-multi/CORE" -g
-Wno-unused-variable -Wuninitialized -DARS32 -DARS452
-DPERL_PATCHLEVEL_IS=8 -DPERL_SUBVERSION_IS=0 -DPERL_BASEREV_IS=50 ARS.c
>>> gcc: unrecognized option `-qmaxmem=16384'
>>> gcc: unrecognized option `-qnoansialias'
>>> gcc: unrecognized option `-q32'
>>> gcc: unrecognized option `-qlonglong'
>>> cc1: Unrecognised option `-Wno-unused-variable'
Maybe you can get some hints from the content of the following files:
(1) the generated "Makefile" from your arsperl installation directory
(2) the "Config.pm" from your perl interpreter, most likely to find
under "/usr/opt/perl5/lib/5.8.0/aix-thread-multi"
(3) the output from "perl -V"
All of those contain some form of definition for "cc".
Could it be that there are multiple perl interpreters installed on your
AIX machine?

Subject: Re: [Arsperl-users] Make on AIX
I'm no expert on this, but it might only compile if you use the same=20
compiler for ARSperl that the perl interpreter was built with.
Apparently "make" wants to use gcc whereas perl was built with the=20
native IBM compiler (you may run "perl -V" to check this out).
As I see it, your options are:
1) use the IBM compiler to build arsperl. As far as I know IBM sells the=20
compiler as a separate product, so it might not be available on your system.
or
2) Build your own perl interpreter using gcc.
