I've seen this problem too but was never able to solve it. You might, however, use field IDs in the qualifier instead of labels, e.g. ... AND '536870913' = "00000000037001" .... That way it has, so far, always worked. Mark, thank you for your help. The schema is the same but the 'Case ID+' is a field label in that view not the field name. This script was always working on ARS 5.1, but when we moved to 6.3 it sometimes breaks. -Stan ----- Original Message ----- From: Mark Vaughan <ars...@ar...> At: 4/10 12:57:35 Stan, It looks as though the field 'Case ID+' is not found in the schema. Thanks, Thilo! Running vcvars32.bat did the trick. I also found a document - "A Practical Guide to Compiling C based Modules under ActiveState using Microsoft C++" - out on =20 www.perlmonks.org by tachyon. This echoed your suggestion and added some additional info. Basically, my problem was not with Perl. My problem was not building the C++ compiler environment. Thanks again for the help. Now on to creating a package (PPM). -----Original Message----- From: ars...@ar... Hi Darryl, I guess if you'd want to compile ARSPerl with ActiveState Perl, you'd have to use the same compiler, which is in this case Visual Studio 6. If you have this installed and the environment variables registered, you can install ARSPerl. One other option is to compile Perl yourself and then compile ARSPerl. Kind regards, Michiel On 4/10/07, HEWITT, DARRYL <DA...@sa...> wrote: > > > > I have downloaded and extracted contents of the ARSperl-1.90.tgz file from > http://sourceforge.net/ to my C: drive. I have downloaded and extracted contents of the ARSperl-1.90.tgz file from http://sourceforge.net/ to my C: drive. I have installed ActiveState Perl 5.8.8 Build 820. I have editted the makefile.pl as instructed and have pointed it to a version 7.0.1 Arserver API folder. When I run the makefile.pl from a command prompt, I get errors like the following: Looks good Note (probably harmless): No library found for oldnames.lib Note (probably harmless): No library found for kernel32.lib Etc. But the makefile is created. I then run nMake and get errors like the following: e:\Remedy\ARServer\Api\include\artypes.h(16) : fatal error C1083: Cannot open include file: 'limits.h': No such file or directory NMAKE : fatal error U1077: 'cl' : return code '0x2' Stop. I can get around these by copying a whole bunch of includes files from my Microsoft Visual Studio includes folders to the base Arserver\Api\Includes folder. I then start getting errors like the following: ARS.obj : error LNK2019: unresolved external symbol _memset referenced in function _XS_ARS_ars_LoadQualifier support.obj : error LNK2019: unresolved external symbol _memset referenced in function _ARError_reset I can get rid of the above errors if I copy the lib files from my Microsoft Visual Studio lib folders to the base Arserver\Api\Includes folder. I don't profess to be a Perl syntax expert. Can someone tell me how to get the Makefile.pl to recognize my .lib and .includes folders that are registered on my PC and in my PATH statement as well as other environment variables? Thanks in advance for any help you can offer. Darryl |

For the version 7 API, the file names of two libraries changed. This means
the Makefile.PL script does not correctly find them to link against when
running perl Makefile.PL.
The files in question are linked against at line 114:
$ARS_LIBS .= " -lpthread -licuuc -licui18n";
This should be:
$ARS_LIBS .= " -lpthread -licuucbmc -licui18nbmc";
The ability to link against the encryption libraries that I submitted for
the version 6 API does not appear to be present anymore in the v7 code for
ARSperl. That needs to be fixed as well (for all versions 6.0+)

That needs to be fixed as well (for all versions 6.0+) Last, but not least, the resulting perl module is not built so that it can track its dependencies. I fixed this in my own build by doing: env LD_RUN_PATH=/opt/remedy/api/lib make so that it could then resolve its dependencies. --Quanah -- Quanah Gibson-Mount Senior Systems Software Developer ITS/Shared Application Services Stanford University GnuPG Public Key: http://www.stanford.edu/~quanah/pgp.html |

Apparently there's no compiler installed. See e.g. http://www.unixguide.net/sun/faq/5.37.shtml for an explanation. The easiest solution is probably to install gcc (as binary package from http://www.sunfreeware.com/). dear listers, I am trying to install ARSperl-1.90 on my Solaris box (SunOS 5.9). At make command, I get the following error: /usr/ucb/cc: language optional software package not installed *** Error code 1 make: Fatal error: Command failed for target `ARS.o' Any help/idea what could be ? Thank you sharing your knowledge. Serouche |

No..
Also, to see what modules are statically built into Perl.
perl -MConfig -e 'print $Config{static_ext}, "\n";'

Jarl commented on this. How I've done it in the past is:
You need to copy the ARSperl-1.90 directory into the ext/ folder under
the perl source tree. Then rename ARSperl-1.90 to ARS and build perl.
Perl's 'configure' script will find it and ask you if you want to build
it statically.

Hi Thilo,
What would happen if I did static linking for ARSPerl 1.90. Would it not
replace the currently statically linked version?
How do I tell ARSPerl 1.90 to get statically linked into the perl binary?

Hi Thilo,
Statically linked into the perl binary itself? That would make sence...
How would I get rid of it if that is the case? I guess I have to recompile
perl itself. Is there a way to check to see if other modules has been
statically linked into perl?

You could also use ars_GetListSchema() to dump all of the forms that you have access too and then make some guess as to which is the correct form... or perform a ars_GetFieldTable() on each form and examine the fields until you see a form that contains the expected combination of fields. jeff |

Could it be that your perl interpreter contains an old statically linked ARSperl? This was necessary on HP with older ARS versions. Hi,
I am trying to get ARSperl 1.90 to work on HP-UX 11, either with the 6.3.0
patch 021 API or the 7.0.1 patch 001 API.
Compilation seems to work ok.
Make test gives me messages like:
t/41setcharmenu.........ARS object version 1.74 does not match bootstrap
parameter 1.90 at /opt/arsacc/rrr/arsperl63/blib/lib/ARS.pm line 130.
Compilation failed in require at t/41setcharmenu.t line 6.
BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at t/41setcharmenu.t line 6.
t/41setcharmenu.........dubious
Test returned status 255 (wstat 65280, 0xff00)
To me, this would indicate that an old ARS.sl is loaded, and that it is of
ARSperl version 1.74.
I have searched for such a file without success. I only find the ones I
expect to find after compiling against 6.3 + 7.0 and doing a make install
on the 6.3 version:
$ ls -l `find / -name 'ARS.sl' 2>/dev/null`
-r-xr-xr-x 1 arsacc arsacc 7061736 Mar 15 09:43
/opt/arsacc/perl/perl-5.8.0/lib/site_perl/5.8.0/PA-RISC2.0/auto/ARS/ARS.sl
-rwxr-xr-x 1 arsacc arsacc 7061736 Mar 15 09:43
/opt/arsacc/rrr/arsperl63/blib/arch/auto/ARS/ARS.sl
-rwxr-xr-x 1 arsacc arsacc 8019440 Mar 15 11:03
/opt/arsacc/rrr/arsperl70/blib/arch/auto/ARS/ARS.sl
Perl version is 5.8.0, and I use the HP-UX ANSIC-compiler.
I tried ARSperl-1.85 as well, but it gave me a similar result:
"ARS object version 1.74 does not match bootstrap parameter 1.84"
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Best Regards - Misi, RRR AB, http://www.rr.se

Maybe it has to do with the different versions of gcc (and accordingly glibc) on the two systems. Unix has also a "ldd" utility to show library depencies. See "man lcc" for more information.
