This grammar checking is entirely handled by the Cocoa text engine. Maybe you should use soft wrapping rather than line breaks in order not to mislead the grammar checker.. --- ** [tickets:#157] Grammar check issue** **Status:** open **Created:** Sat Jun 16, 2018 12:00 PM UTC by Christoph Schiller **Last Updated:** Sat Jun 16, 2018 12:00 PM UTC **Owner:** nobody Grammar check (at least in tex mode) does not seem to work well with line wrap: it flags every end of sentence at the beginning of a line as ``sentence fragment''. --- Sent from sourceforge.net because alp...@li... is subscribed to https://sourceforge.net/p/alphacocoa/tickets/ To unsubscribe from further messages, a project admin can change settings at https://sourceforge.net/p/alphacocoa/admin/tickets/options. I think there is a misunderstanding as to what this command achieves. There is no literary meaning of a paragraph. What this command does it to break a long line to fit within some limits (known as the left and right columns). It handles comments and plain text differently but what it finally does is to call the proc *breakIntoLines*. --- ** [tickets:#158] Line to paragraph** **Status:** open **Created:** Sat Jun 16, 2018 12:01 PM UTC by Christoph Schiller **Last Updated:** Sat Jun 16, 2018 12:01 PM UTC **Owner:** nobody In the Text menu, ''Line to paragraph'' (at least in tex mode) does not seem to work with questions. This would imply: a menu item "Word count" (opens a window with the word count, the character count and the average number of characters per word) a menu item "Sentence count" (opens a window with the sentence count, the word count and the averagae number of words per sentence) a menu item "Frequently used words'' (opens a window with the list of the 50 most used words in the text) a menu item "Frequently used expressions'' (of at most 4 words: opens a windo with the list) Since all these open new windows, they should probably appear in an item in the "Tools" menu. The exception is "Text options". All its subitems are in fact about "Typing options". Still, they can be left in the menu. My opinion: the submenu should not be renamed, but should be taken out, and all points added directly at the bottom of the Text menu, below a separator. The first part of this proposal has been implemented like this: * the *Spelling* submenu is now located in the *Edit* (not *Text*) menu as is the case with some Apple apps (like TextEdit and Mail). * the *Find Repeated Words* and *Word Count* commands are now in the *Tools ↣ Window Utilities* submenu. Concerning the other requests, could you open separate tickets and specify more precisely what you expect. They are certainly very useful commands but in my opinion they are more specialised features which should go in a separate package which could add to the *Window Utilities* submenu (very much like the *Window Lines* package) . Same with the Thesaurus idea: could you elaborate in a separate ticket? Note that the *Www Dictionary* package already has some sort of support for dictionaries and thesaurus. --- ** [tickets:#161] More proposals for the Text menu** **Status:** open **Created:** Sat Jun 16, 2018 12:12 PM UTC by Christoph Schiller **Last Updated:** Sat Jun 16, 2018 12:12 PM UTC **Owner:** nobody In my personal opinion, "Word Count" and "Spelling" should be in the Text menu, not in the Tools menu.
