Hi Steven, Your question is not uncommon. The short story is that we operate under some considerable restrictions. I like to refer to this post from long ago in which David explained things in a pretty clear way: <http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/message.php?msg_id=10892301> If you are in need of a Python 2.5 package any time soon, your best option is probably to modify our RPM spec file and build a new package. -- Reza Arbab ar...@au... |

The AIX Toolbox for Linux Applications at this address: http://www-03.ibm.com/servers/aix/products/aixos/linux/download.html includes Python 2.3.4, which is more than 2 years old. Why not update it to the latest version of Python, which is 2.5 ? |

Hi, currently in the Linux Toolbox for AIX, qt is at version 3.0.3. For compiling an application, I would need qt(-devel) at version 3.3.1 (at least). Would it be possible to spin a refresh ? Most packages are built on 5.1 but will execute without modification on 5.2 or 5.2. A very small number of packages have level-dependent functions such as producing private versions of system headers (gcc) or poking around in system data structures (lsof), so there are OS level-specific versions of those packages. The jsvc program runs when LIBPATH is defined and includes the Java 5 and/or 5_64 directories that include .so files. When the jsvc program is compiled on Solaris (with gcc) or Linux (with gcc) LIBPATH isn't needed. Rex |

If I remember correctly, we found that the "space available" code in RPM makes assumptions about filesystem size, and values which overflow a signed long integer are going to cause problems. How large does `df` say /gpfs/m is? It's huge, right? I think the workaround was to use --ignoresize, or even temporarily unmount the filesystem. -- Reza Arbab ar...@au... |

Hi, An SSL security advisory came out this past week: http://www.openssl.org/news/secadv_20060928.txt The advisory says these vulnerabilities are resolved in the following versions of OpenSSL: - in the 0.9.7 branch, version 0.9.7l (or later); - in the 0.9.8 branch, version 0.9.8d (or later). Will these SSL libs (or the back ported fixes) be available from the toolbox soon? Thanks, Kevin |

It is available at <http://www6.software.ibm.com/dl/aixtbx/aixtbx-p>. OpenSSL is an important package, and a moving target at that. We're currently pushing through the red tape needed to release 0.9.8c. All I can say is we'll have it out there as soon as we are cleared to. Alternatively, it's not too tough to build a newer openssl package from our spec file if you want to jump to 0.9.8 right now. Thanks for the heads up on the CERT advisory. I appreciate it. -- Reza Arbab ar...@au... |
