Gordan, The exciting thing about the RMI interface is the passing of XML for requests and responses. This keeps the transport logic very simple, without constraining the content. And that made it very easy to create a rich user interface. You will notice that I've been writing a lot of commands for semantic referencing. I've now created the means for defining new relationships, relationDUs, creating relations, SemanticRelationCSecs, and qualifiers. The next step will be to work on the inferencing rules, and then rework the inferencing engine to work with all these new structures. Too much fun! But please don't overlook tables! You can now define and create custom tables, using the Columns table in the table DU to define the column types. It is all a matter of configuring the table DU--no additional programming needed. The bug in copy was causing a hang. Fixed, checked in, and deployed at agilewiki.org. As I just did a release, I'll wait a day or two before releasing this. 3.4.1.2 is out and I've just added the documentation for crDU and crTableDU at agilewiki.org. Time to start working on semantic relations, again. :-) --b --------------------------------- Find out what India is talking about on - Yahoo! Tomorrow I'll deploy to agilewiki.org and update the documentation. Then it is back to semantic relations. Hmm, last release was on the 10th. Perhaps I should do a release... 3.4.1.2? Downloads have been quite good this month, but have been slow since the release of 3.4.1.1. There have only been 13 downloads. (Not long ago, that would have been a big number. My how times have changed.) Bill --------------------------------- Find out what India is talking about on - Yahoo! Answers India Send FREE SMS to your friend's mobile from Yahoo! I've just checked in the crDU command, more for completeness than anything else. But it should allow folk to play with descriptors a bit. crTableDU should follow, either tonight or tomorrow morning. Meanwhile, I continue to kick around ideas about semantic relations on my blog at http://laforge49.blogspot.com/ Anyone what to discuss this stuff? Well, I was able to make the inference engine a bit more efficent, but not by too much. Next step is integration. And that begins with defining Semantic Relation CSecs. The inference engine is incomplete. Hey, there's no new commands yet even. But I put together a simple test and it is working just great. (After a good number of bug fixes.) The next step is to move the combinatoric processing down into the special relations, where they can do some early pruning. Necessary with something like this. Meanwhile, the code has been checked in. Enjoy! --------------------------------- Find out what India is talking about on - Yahoo! Answers India Send FREE SMS to your friend's mobile from Yahoo! OK, fixed the combinatorics error. Its still a brute force approach, which is not a good approach at all, but I'd rather get something working before getting it complicated. I've now also coded _Transitive, _Communitive and _KindOf. KindOf is especially interesting: KindOf(Bird,Pigeon) and Has(Bird,Wings) => Has(Pigeon,Wings) KindOf(Fish,Tuna), Eats(Cat,Fish) => Eats(Cat,Tuna) KindOf(Relation,Brother) and Brother(Fred,Sam) => Relation(Fred,Sam) Note that I'm using the notation Relation(Subject,Object) or Relation(Subject). Too much code in my head to sleep. So I spent an hour and cranked out most of the inference engine, and the interface for special relations. It is checked in, should be a fun read. (There are 3 "todo" comments in the engine code.) See the new inference package. Now there's still a bit of fun left, which is cranking out the code for the core special relations--_Communitive, _Transitive and _KindOf. The rest should be just the usual grind. Oh! Just thought of a big bug. Uh, I'll get to it later. I'm not testing enough combinations. Also, this is not the best design. If I push the combinatorics down into the special relations, they can be more "inteligent" about which combinatorics are useful for them. But that makes for a messier interface. Enough! Later! Hopefully I can get some sleep now. Bill --------------------------------- Find out what India is talking about on - Yahoo! Answers India Send FREE SMS to your friend's mobile from Yahoo! We now have two new commands for working with classifiers, matchedTo and includedBy, both of which list the CSecs which match or reference them. I think we will see a release soon. I spent much of today just reorganizing the command groups (blue column, left side). There is now a stronger corrispondence with the feature sets. It is also more rolonic. This has been checked in and deployed at agilewiki.org, but not yet released. Oh, and the documentation at agilewiki.org has also been updated. Perhaps it will prove to be somewhat helpful. I've now fixed and deployed, but not released the correction for the failing tag match csec. But much more interesting, I've now updated the view command description at agilewiki.org. For each feature there is a link that displays the list of commands for that feature. This is done with + brace notation, command brace notation, the include command, tag match csecs and tags on the various command descriptions. Go and puzzle it out. This is a good one. But you will need to turn on many of the features of view to see what you need to be able to work this out. Have fun!
