Found a very dumb bug in name resolution--relation CSecs were always matching, so if you had any relation CSecs it broke name resolution. It has been deployed. The NuclearFamily example has been embelished. And I'm even using the relations Next and Previous for page navigation in the UserGuide. :-) So I'll be doing a release later today (Wednesday). Hi guys! I'm taking a mini-holiday in the form of another SF book. But I've also been thinking about the code and I think some might be missing. Specificly, I suspect name resolution may at the moment (3.5.0.5) only work with infered relations. So just creating a relation isn't good enough. I'll need to create a Deductions table and run the infer command. Check the code I added to Rolon.java and compare it to the code for the relations command and tell me it isn't so. Anyway, I'll be back on it tomorrow morning, Bangalore time, and verify this one way or another... and fix it as needed. All the best! --b --------------------------------- Find out what India is talking about on - Yahoo! Answers India Send FREE SMS to your friend's mobile from Yahoo! Messenger Version 8. Get it NOW |

This last change was wild, though it may take a while to update the documentation. :-) Lets say you are in topic Sally. Now you can say {Mother/Spouse} or {Mary/Spouse}. Yes, relations are fully integrated at the level of the pathname. Cheers! Bill --------------------------------- Find out what India is talking about on - Yahoo! Previously the output of the inference engine was just rows in the Deductions table. That has now changed. The subjects and objects of the infered relations are now linked to those rows. And the relations command uses this information to display all the relations, infered or otherwise, that the current rolon is participating in. This then lays the groundwork for enhancing name resolution so that you can use relation names in a wiki document to link to the object of the relation (the subject being the current rolon). I've also been thinking about using relations to build infosets. But that can wait, mm? Right now we don't have too many folk using infosets. :-) Bill --------------------------------- Find out what India is talking about on - Yahoo! http://agilewiki.org/aw3/AwServlet?cmd=rid%20062b17909bff806f822e82d1fd6a1c50 The above is the 6th page of the new user guide. (I also made some changes to the previous page, AgileWiki.) All, I seem to be making steady progress on the new user guide. Here's the latest: http://agilewiki.org/aw3/AwServlet?cmd=rid%20c62936362550a06b8f48f2e27caf6a81 Please review this material. I'm sure there are points which are simply not clear. The first 5 sections of the guide are now complete, pending your review of course. I expect there will be 11 sections all together, perhaps more. http://agilewiki.org/aw3/AwServlet?cmd=rid%2095aa83f0078249c758707071df85e6ad New page on TimeNavigation. This one took a while, as there was so much that needed fixing. Small API change today, but lots of changes required. Narrow now takes a timestamp. Why? To handle deleted topics when viewing in past time. Also, rolon equals method now tests the class, as type can now change over time. Now some time ago, I pointed out jotspot.com. It is one of the first sites to offer wiki-based applications. It offers a limited free service (with no public access), but really it is a commercial site. And not open source. Something worth looking at, anyway. My immediate plans now are to complete the documentation on time navigation and do a release tomorrow morning. After that I may turn my attention to fixing the include and semantic csecs--the tagmatch csecs are just fine the way they are. Changing these csecs opens the door for cabinet sharing and mobility, though I'm not sure of the priority of these projects. I also need to finish integrating semantic relations into wiki name resolution--and that should take priority. As for physical location, Rupali and I will remain in Bangalore until the end of the month, then relocate to Raipur. Hi, I was looking this site wikidot. On the first view its looking simple, every user can login free and can create spaces making some uniform web sites for itself. Some is with agilewiki. I think that SMTP and mail support could be good, and kind of artifical inteligence agents coul be very good (http://jade.tilab.com) with newly version of jade gordan Bill la Forge wrote: > > http://www.wikidot.com/ > > Get a free wiki at the above site. I've been thinking about replacing the GUI. My idea is to move the command bar to the right side. Move the header information to a box in the upper left. Under that, the left side would list the subtopics, lsecs, csecs, lents, dents, and cents. This then leaves the entire middle column, top to botton, for content. Now when editing, we may want a different layout. A thin headline on top. The edit box, full width, under that. and then a multi-column display of topics below that for easy reference. Thoughts? Comments? Anyone want to do a mockup??? I'm going to need help on this--you already know the kind of GUI that I come up with! :-( Bill --------------------------------- Find out what India is talking about on - Yahoo! The ad program has been a fabulous success... Not! Earnings to date: $0.04. I expect to drop the ads after a bit. Need to up web traffic by several orders of magnitude first. :-( On a brighter note (oh, that was the bad news?), I've now reworked the rebuild utility to include the new .wdbs files. If present, it uses the last one made. Now I need to do a bit more testing, then I can cut out history (and journals) prior to 01-July-06. That may shrink things a bit and speed rebuilds somewhat. Bill la Forge has sent you a link to a weblog: This is a bit of an experiment, posting a blog to the mailing list. The blog gives a bit of design overview for the snap utility, which I started yesterday. Now running with 1000 blocks in cache and -Xmx200m for the heap size. The first part of the rebuild ran like a bandit, but still the rebuild took about 50 min. No my hope is that with the extra ram, things may be a bit more reliable. But the log files are growing--a zip of the log files is now over 5mb. I've been thinking a bit more lately about the snap utility. That really shrinks everything. What is proving difficult is designing a system which supports both sharing cabinets across systems and snaps. Snaps destroy history, while sharing depends on history. I'd love to start promoting AgileWiki through advertising. But that takes money. The obvious thing is to use some page space on AgileWiki to make money through Google Ads. Then use that money to promote AgileWiki. Seems to make a lot of sense, especially as I'm now working on AgileWiki full time. Comments? I've decided to invest some time writing about AW. I was working on TheBasics at http://agilewiki.org/aw3/AwServlet?cmd=rid%20e9ab103b0e9a63d36dfd11245be870b9 and about to describe the infoset command when I realized that the command was not displaying the references on the page. Woops! So it is back to programming, at least for a bit. But hey, I've always considered documentation to be an important part of programming. I've added the sourceforge logo to the pages generated by AwServlet--I want to get some idea of the volume of traffic. Statistics will be available here: http://sourceforge.net/project/stats/detail.php?group_id=106672&ugn=agilewiki&mode=week&type=sfweb I'm also thinking about advertising. Perhaps some Google adds would provide the income to support advertising agilewiki.org? Bill --------------------------------- Find out what India is talking about on - Yahoo!
