This specification is a product of the Immersive Web Working Group. This specification module describes support for accessing button, trigger, thumbstick, and touchpad data associated with virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) devices on the Web. Hardware that enables Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) applications are now broadly available to consumers, offering an immersive computing platform with both new opportunities and challenges. The ability to interact directly with immersive hardware is critical to ensuring that the web is well equipped to operate as a first-class citizen in this environment. The WebXR Gamepads module adds interfaces and behaviors to the WebXR Device API and the Gamepads API to allow for querying the state of buttons, triggers, thumbsticks.

    Supplemental code and dataset for the ACM CHI 2021 paper on "Proxemics and Social Interactions in an Instrumented Virtual Reality Workshop". In this research paper we instrumented Mozilla Hubs Cloud to record where participants where during the event. From there, we measured proxemic and plotted the activity along with some semi-structured interviews. Virtual environments (VEs) can create collaborative and social spaces, which are increasingly important in the face of remote work and travel reduction. Recent advances, such as more open and widely available platforms, create new possibilities to observe and analyze interaction in VEs. Using a custom instrumented build of Mozilla Hubs to measure position and orientation, we conducted an academic workshop to facilitate a range of typical workshop activities. We analyzed social interactions during a keynote, small group breakouts, and informal networking/hallway conversations.

    A hybrid visualization framework for desktops, large immersive displays and the web. A framework for virtual reality and cluster-driven display systems. Requires Python (the pre-installed 2.7 version on OSX and most linux distros works fine, on Windows omegalib comes with python bundled so you don't need this). C++ Build tools for your platform (g++, clang/XCode, Visual Studio 2012/2013 depending on the OS). On windows, the free Visual Studio editions work fine. Modules are optional components that extend omegalib functionality. Enabled modules are automatically downloaded and compiled. A full list of modules can be found in the Omegalib hub. On most platforms, omegalib is distributed as a source-only project. Users are responsible for creating binaries for their operating system and architecture. The build process is kept as simple as possible and should require very little configuration effort by the user. Omegalib can build out-of-the-box and has no external dependencies.
