This VM is created for 2 reasons: 1. Very little initial setup work required to Develop / Test / Deploy a Dynamic Web Application live. 2. This system should keep running for Years, without requiring Updates / Breakages. If you are new to Virtual Machines, then please watch the Video below ( taken from my other PHP project called teamdocs. Just replace td with lapp wherever mentioned ) Upload your PHP Files using the free FileZilla ftp client software, to this server called lapp.local and also connect to its postgresql db, using the free pgadmin gui client, from any PC on your LAN. After the application / database is ready, you can access it using https://lapp.local from any LAN PC. Backup the system regularly to avoid any issues. These are covered in the video. Google Search helps in finding more about PHP development / troubleshooting. Apart from Dynamic Applications, you can use this Virtual Machine, to host static webpages too, for the LAN environment. -

BinDiff
Helper app for VMware .vmdk files differential backup
This application is intended to make a diff files for the backup purposes. Imagine that you have a VM with 10GB vmdk file that you backup every day. So, you need to keep 100GB (let say 60GB with compression) for 10 days. However from those 10GB file only ~500MB is daily changed and you can shrink your backup storage to 15GB, if you keep only the daily difference. The BinDiff makes this job for you. Initially you make a full copy of vmfk file (let's say every month or two). That time you also make a hash file to track the block changes. You keep the hash file (which is small enough) and every day make a differential file from vmdk file that you keep on the backup storage. Profit! For the recovery BinDiff merges the latest available diff file with the initial vmdk file and gives you the full vmdk on that day. You can also make/check md5 checksums if necessary. Note that BinDiff tracks 4kB block changes only (VMware vmdk does it and HyperV I guess too). -
