FreeJ2ME
A J2ME emulator for Windows, Linux, and Raspberry Pi
FreeJ2ME is a simple J2ME emulator with a focus on old mobile phone games. It was designed to run on Windows, desktop Linux, and on the Raspberry Pi 3 using Libretro and Retroarch as provided by RetroPie. It supports some games not playable using MicroEmulator and Kemulat0r, though it does not support every game those play. At the moment, it's best to have all three if you're interested in those types of games. Some games only run at specific resolutions. Per-game configuration is available from the menu (by pressing esc). Preferences are saved and will automatically load. Games automatically scale with the window size, making it easy to play games designed for smaller screen sizes. The Java portion can be built using Apache Ant with the build.xml file provided. The Libretro core can be built using the build.sh script. Installation instructions for the Libretro core for RetroPie are included. Scoop is a command-line installer for Windows. If you have built software that you would like others to use, Scoop is an alternative to building an installer (like MSI or InnoSetup). You just need to compress your app to a .zip file and provide a JSON manifest that describes how to install it. Scoop downloads and manages packages in a portable way, keeping them neatly isolated in ~\scoop. It won't install files outside its home, and you can place a Scoop installation wherever you like. For terminal applications, Scoop creates shims, a kind of command-line shortcut, inside the ~\scoop\shims folder, which is accessible in the PATH. For graphical applications, Scoop creates program shortcuts in a dedicated Start menu folder, called 'Scoop Apps'. This way, packages are always cleanly uninstalled and you can be sure what tools are currently in your PATH and in your Start menu. -

Make sure Android applications are compatible with your Chromebook, first try to install an official application. Download an official app, such as Evernote, from the Chrome Web Store. Then download an open source game, like 2048.APK Game by Uberspot and load it as an unpacked extension. Go to chrome://apps and launch it there, ignore warnings. Install a sample Android app from the Chrome Store to get the runtime. Test out that app, make sure it runs on your hardware. Ubuntu might need sudo apt-get install lib32stdc++6. Install Node.js and install the tool (might need a sudo prefix). With Chrome 38+ you can now side load as many applications as you want. If you have older apps that were created using chromeos-apk tool then re-convert them or remove the "key" option from manifest.json. -

Zipkin is a distributed tracing system. It helps gather timing data needed to troubleshoot latency problems in service architectures. Features include both the collection and lookup of this data. If you have a trace ID in a log file, you can jump directly to it. Otherwise, you can query based on attributes such as service, operation name, tags and duration. Some interesting data will be summarized for you, such as the percentage of time spent in a service, and whether or not operations failed. The Zipkin UI also presents a Dependency diagram showing how many traced requests went through each application. This can be helpful for identifying aggregate behavior including error paths or calls to deprecated services. Applications need to be “instrumented” to report trace data to Zipkin. -

fping
High performance ping tool
fping is a program to send ICMP echo probes to network hosts, similar to ping, but much better performing when pinging multiple hosts. fping has a very long history: Roland Schemers did publish a first version of it in 1992 and it has established itself since then as a standard tool for network diagnostics and statistics. There was no official fping release from 2002 until end of 2011. Various patches existed, but were never integrated "upstream". Also, the official maintainer didn't answer emails, so I decided to just step up and take over maintenanceship.To mark this change of maintenance, and avoid confusion, I decided to call it version 3. Besides a new maintainer, fping now also features a completely rewritten main loop implementation which improves performance significantly. The run time is now close to the theoretical time required to send and receive the pings under the specified parameters.
