    bootstrap-select

    bootstrap-select

The jQuery plugin that brings select elements into the 21st century

The jQuery plugin that brings select elements into the 21st century with intuitive multiselection, searching, and much more. Now with Bootstrap 4 support. Bootstrap-select requires jQuery v1.9.1+, Bootstrap’s dropdown.js component, and Bootstrap's CSS. If you're not already using Bootstrap in your project, a precompiled version of the Bootstrap v3.4.1 minimum requirements can be downloaded. If using bootstrap-select with Bootstrap v4+, you'll also need Popper.js. For all of Bootstrap v4's requirements, see Getting started. A precompiled version of the requirements will be made available in an upcoming release of bootstrap-select. Bootstrap 4 only works with bootstrap-select v1.13.0+. By default, bootstrap-select automatically detects the version of Bootstrap being used. However, there are some instances where the version detection won't work.

    cppbestpractices

    cppbestpractices

Collaborative collection of C++ best practices

Collaborative Collection of C++ Best Practices. This online resource is part of Jason Turner's collection of C++ Best Practices resources. This document is meant to be a collaborative discussion of the best practices in C++. It complements books such as Effective C++ (Meyers) and C++ Coding Standards (Alexandrescu, Sutter). We fill in some of the lower-level details that they don't discuss and provide specific stylistic recommendations while also discussing how to ensure overall code quality. In all cases brevity and succinctness is preferred. Examples are preferred for making the case for why one option is preferred over another. If necessary, words will be used. deej

    deej

Set app volumes with real sliders! Arduino project to build hardware

deej is an open-source hardware volume mixer for Windows and Linux PCs. It lets you use real-life sliders (like a DJ!) to seamlessly control the volumes of different apps (such as your music player, the game you're playing and your voice chat session) without having to stop what you're doing. Control your microphone's input level. Lightweight desktop client, consuming around 10MB of memory. Runs from your system tray. Helpful notifications to let you know if something isn't working. The sliders are connected to 5 (or as many as you like) analog pins on an Arduino Nano/Uno board. They're powered from the board's 5V output (see schematic). The board connects via a USB cable to the PC. The code running on the Arduino board is a C program constantly writing current slider values over its serial interface. The PC runs a lightweight Go client in the background. This client reads the serial stream and adjusts app volumes according to the given configuration file.

    free-for.dev

    free-for.dev

A list of SaaS, PaaS and IaaS offerings that have free tiers

free-for-dev is a long-running, community-curated catalog of services that offer free tiers useful to developers, students, makers, and small teams. The list spans hosting, databases, CI/CD, monitoring, source control, APIs, design tools, and more, organized into clear categories so readers can scan and compare options quickly. It emphasizes practical limits such as usage caps, seat counts, rate limits, and time-boxed trials, helping users spot real-world constraints before adopting a tool. The repository is maintained via pull requests and issue discussion, so new services and policy changes can be incorporated as providers evolve their offerings. Contributors often include short notes or caveats next to each entry, which keeps the list actionable rather than just promotional. Because it’s a single, searchable markdown resource, it has become a go-to reference for bootstrappers and engineers looking to prototype or run small workloads at minimal cost.

    gitbase

    gitbase

SQL interface to git repositories, written in Go.

gitbase, is a SQL database interface to Git repositories. This project is now part of source{d} Community Edition, which provides the simplest way to get started with a single command. It can be used to perform SQL queries about the Git history and about the Universal AST of the code itself. gitbase is being built to work on top of any number of git repositories. gitbase implements the MySQL wire protocol, it can be accessed using any MySQL client or library from any language. The project is currently in alpha stage, meaning it's still lacking performance in a number of cases but we are working hard on getting a performant system able to process thousands of repositories in a single node. Stay tuned! gitbase was born to ease the analysis of git repositories and their source code. Also, making it MySQL compatible, we provide the maximum compatibility between languages and existing tools.

    gitignore

    gitignore

A collection of useful .gitignore templates

gitignore.mirror is a comprehensive collection of .gitignore templates curated and maintained by GitHub. These templates serve as standardized guidelines for developers to configure which files and directories should be excluded from version control in Git repositories. The collection is used to populate the .gitignore template, simplifying repository creation by providing language- and framework-specific ignore rules. Templates are organized into several directories: common-use templates at the root, Global templates for editors and operating systems, and community templates for specialized tools and projects. Each template is designed to be minimal yet effective, ensuring that unnecessary or environment-specific files are not accidentally committed. The project also includes clear contributing guidelines, encouraging developers to propose new templates or updates that are well-documented, scoped appropriately, and beneficial to the broader community.

    macOS Simple KVM

    macOS Simple KVM

Tools to set up a quick macOS VM in QEMU, accelerated by KVM

macOS-Simple-KVM is a project that provides scripts and configuration files to easily set up and run macOS in a virtual machine using QEMU and KVM. It simplifies what is typically a complex process by offering a straightforward approach to creating a macOS VM on Linux systems with hardware virtualization support. The repository includes tools for preparing installation media, configuring virtual hardware, and managing VM launch scripts. By using KVM acceleration, the virtual machine runs with near-native performance, making it useful for testing, development, or personal experimentation. The project also supports GPU passthrough and other advanced configurations for users who want a more optimized macOS VM environment. While primarily intended for educational and testing purposes, it demonstrates how macOS can be virtualized outside of Apple hardware.

    nFPM

    nFPM

A simple deb, rpm and apk packager written in Go

nFPM is a simple, 0-dependencies, deb, rpm, apk, and Arch Linux packager. While fpm is great, for me, it is a bummer that it depends on ruby, tar and other software. I wanted something that could be used as a binary and/or as a library and that was really simple. So I decided to create nFPM: a simpler, 0-dependency, as-little-assumptions-as-possible alternative to fpm. This is a subtle way of saying it won't have all features, nor all formats that fpm has: it is supposed to be simpler. And that's OK!, most of us don't need all those features most of the time. You create a YAML file with the definition of what you need, run the nfpm binary, and it takes care of everything. The same config file can be used to create both the RPM and Deb packages.

    node-canvas

    node-canvas

Node canvas is a Cairo backed Canvas implementation for NodeJS

If you don't have a supported OS or processor architecture, or you use --build-from-source, the module will be compiled on your system. This requires several dependencies, including Cairo and Pango. Note that libgif/giflib, librsvg and libjpeg are optional and only required if you need GIF, SVG and JPEG support, respectively. Cairo v1.10.0 or later is required. This project is an implementation of the Web Canvas API and implements that API as closely as possible. For API documentation, please visit Mozilla Web Canvas API. (See Compatibility Status for the current API compliance.) All utility methods and non-standard APIs are documented. When MIME data is tracked, PDF canvases can embed JPEGs directly into the output, rather than re-encoding into PNG. This can drastically reduce filesize and speed up rendering. If working with a non-PDF canvas, image data must be tracked, otherwise the output will be junk.

    opencvsharp

    opencvsharp

    OpenCV wrapper for .NET

OpenCV wrapper for .NET. Some Docker images are provided to use OpenCvSharp with AppEngine Flexible. The native binding (libOpenCvSharpExtern) is already built in the docker image and you don't need to worry about it. OpenCvSharp won't work on Unity and Xamarin platform. For Unity, please consider using OpenCV for Unity or some other solutions. OpenCvSharp does not support CUDA. If you want to use the CUDA features, you need to customize the native bindings yourself. Objects of classes, such as Mat and MatExpr, have unmanaged resources and need to be manually released by calling the Dispose() method. Worst of all, the +, -, *, and other operators create new objects each time, and these objects need to be disposed of, or there will be memory leaks. Despite the using syntax, the code still looks very verbose.

    pikepdf

    pikepdf

A Python library for reading and writing PDF, powered by QPDF

pikepdf is a Python library allowing the creation, manipulation, and repair of PDFs. It provides a Pythonic wrapper around the C++ PDF content transformation library, QPDF. Python + QPDF = “py” + “qpdf” = “pyqpdf”, which looks like a dyslexia test and is no fun to type. But say “pyqpdf” out loud, and it sounds like “pikepdf”. pikepdf is a library intended for developers who want to create, manipulate, parse, repair, and abuse the PDF format. It supports reading and write PDFs, including creating from scratch. Thanks to QPDF, it supports linearizing PDFs and access to encrypted PDFs.

    pytz

    pytz

Python historical timezone library and database

pytz is a Python library that brings the IANA/Olson timezone database into the Python runtime, enabling accurate, cross-platform timezone calculations for all the world’s timezones. It addresses a major limitation of Python’s built-in datetime.tzinfo by providing consistent support for daylight-saving transitions, historical offset changes, and ambiguous times (such as the end of DST). With pytz, developers can convert naïve datetime objects into timezone-aware ones, shift between timezones, and safely perform arithmetic across DST boundaries with methods like localize() and normalize(). Although Python 3.9 and newer include better built-in timezone support (via zoneinfo and external packages like tzdata), pytz remains widely used—especially in legacy codebases or in environments where backward compatibility matters.

    reCAPTCHA

    reCAPTCHA

PHP client library for reCAPTCHA, a free service

reCAPTCHA is Google’s human-verification system that helps websites distinguish real users from automated abuse while keeping friction low for legitimate traffic. The project bundles client and server examples, language-specific helpers, and documentation patterns for integrating reCAPTCHA v2 and v3 flows into web forms and APIs. Its design philosophy is “risk-based”: most users pass silently based on behavioral signals, while higher-risk interactions may be challenged with an image, checkbox, or other verification step. Site owners register keys, embed a small client script, and verify tokens on the server to protect actions like sign-ups, logins, and form submissions. The ecosystem supports mobile and enterprise variants, but the repo focuses on common web integrations and best practices for verifying the token securely. Deployed correctly, reCAPTCHA reduces credential stuffing, bot sign-ups, and scraping without degrading the experience for typical users.
