Ns is a discrete event simulator targeted at networking research. Ns provides substantial support for simulation of TCP, routing, and multicast protocols over wired and wireless (local and satellite) networks.

Minsky brings system dynamics and monetary modelling to economics. Models are defined using flowcharts on a drawing canvas (as are Matlab's Simulink, Vensim, Stella, etc). Minsky's unique feature is the "Godley Table", which uses double entry bookkeeping to generate stock-flow consistent models of financial flows. Minsky is good for demonstrating mathematics too, with the most "math-like" interface in system dynamics. This is a collection of software modifications created to integrate NanoEngineer-1, PACKMOL and MSI2LMP for the purpose of easily creating molecular dynamics cells. NanoEngineer-1 is a molecular CAD software written by Nanorex and provides the user an easy way to create molecules, while the software modifications allow the user to type atoms using multiple force fields. PACKMOL can generate a random collection of molecules using the molecule templates from NanoEngineer-1 thus providing the initial MD cell. Modifications to PACKMOL allow the atom type data to be passed through to the MSI2LMP software. MSI2LMP creates a LAMMPS input file based on class I or class II force fields. MSI2LMP was modified to use numerically coded force field data generated by NanoEngineer-1. NanoHive is a modular simulator used for modelling the physical world at a nanometer scale. The intended purpose of the simulator is to act as a tool for the study and development of nanotech entities. The project will also focus on the simulation of complex biological applications such as Targeted Drug Delivery by simulating nanowires, magnetic nanoparticles and others. BioFVM is an open source diffusive transport solver for biological problems. It can solve for the diffusion of tens or hundreds of substrates on large 3-D domains. Wavefront is a programme for simulating 2D acoustic systems, with a particular emphasis on determining wavefront shapes at the mouths of horns. It accepts CAD drawings in DXF format and produces animated displays of wave propagation as well as exporting various data as text files. It is GPL software and runns on Linux and Windows.

ACADO Toolkit is a software environment and algorithm collection for automatic control and dynamic optimization. It provides a general framework for using a great variety of algorithms for direct optimal control, including model predictive control, state and parameter estimation and robust optimization. ACADO Toolkit is implemented as self-contained C++ code and comes along with user-friendly MATLAB interface. The Free Finite Element Package is a library which contains numerical methods required when working with finite elements. The goal of FFEP is to provide basic functions for approximating the solution of elliptic and parabolic PDEs in 2D. Until 2016 FFEP was developed using C. Science 2016 the language was switched to GNU Octave with some C Mex-Functions. Mesh generation or import is not part of FFEP. We recommend the use of Gmsh.
