Color to Word
Turn colors into words
The program will turn a color into a list of 10 words, obtained according to a custom designed algorithm based on letter shape and position in the alphabet. - Click inside the frame on the left to pick a color through the color chooser window - The program will match the color with the colors corresponding to a list of all the English words contained in the file wordcolor.txt - The first 10 matches will appear in the frame on the right - Right-click - Copy to copy the word matches and the RGB values This version comes with a text file (wordcolor.txt) containing all the English words followed by Red, Green, Blue channel values for the corresponding color. The colors were obtained through a modified version of the program "Text to Color" by same author, available for download on GitHub and SourceForge on the profile page of Fonazza-Stent. The next version (coming soon) will include a tool to convert a custom word list into a word+color list named wordcolor.txt -

FABS is a program designed to run a fluorescence/absorption spectrometer on Windows. The program analyzes spectra and provides graphs and data files. Users may choose to input video files from cell phones or other cameras, still images, or even live streams of video from webcams. FABS can perform any necessary calibration and image preprocessing. Experienced users have a number of more advanced options such as background subtraction, adjustments for nonlinearities in detector response, and graph smoothing. FABS was designed with students in mind, as a way to help high schoolers and undergraduates learn about spectroscopy without paying for expensive equipment and software. Accompanying this software is a hardware design, which can be used as a bare-bones spectrometer that will provide quantitative absorption and fluorescence emission spectra at an extremely low cost. It uses only materials that many people can find around their home. -

The script requires as the input the areas of the grain profiles measured grain-by-grain on planar sections and does not require previous experience with Python programming language (see documentation below and FAQ). Hybrid Lineage Transcriptome Explorer
HyLiTE (Hybrid Lineage Transcriptome Explorer) analyzes high-throughput transcriptome data from allopolyploid species. Allopolyploidy describes the formation of a new hybrid organism from the union of two or more different parents. Allopolyploid species carry multiple copies of each gene (homeologs), which often exhibit unusual expression patterns. Homeolog expression levels can technically be determined from next generation sequencing data (RNA-seq), but in practice, assigning reads to one homeolog over another is extremely challenging, particularly on a whole-genome scale. HyLiTE automates this process, and allows gene expression patterns to be explored even in very complex allopolyploid species. -
