Library to compute distance between elliptic orbits (MOID)
This C++ library allows to compute the Minimal Orbital Intersection Distance (MOID) between two elliptic confocal orbits using the method by Kholshevnikov & Vassiliev (1999), Cel. Mech. Dyn. Astr., 75, 75. The implementation of the method is described in (Baluev & Mikryukov 2019), Astronomy & Computing, 27, 11. It employs numeric error control and deals carefully with nearly degenerate cases (like almost circular and almost coplanar orbits). Library also includes auxiliary functions. The code was developed and tested with GCC, though it should be usable with any other C++-compatible compiler. See README. -

...NNmapper can map a query read (1) to the library read that gives the smallest distance (most similar), (2) to the library read that gives the smallest distance while the distance is smaller than a threshold, or (3) all library reads that have distances smaller than threshold. Fortran 2008 added 3 new intrinsic functions: erf, erfc, erfc_scaled. However, they take only real arguments. This package provides a BSD licensed Fortran 2008 module with erf(z), where z is a complex argument. The calculation is based on calculating w(z), the Faddeyeva (plasma dispersion) function. Two algorithms are implemented: TOMS 680 and 916, http://www.netlib.org/toms/. The simple test program calculates values in the Abramowitz, Stegun. -
