PSR Log
An interface that describes a logger
The main goal is to allow libraries to receive a Psr\Log\LoggerInterface object and write logs to it in a simple and universal way. The LoggerInterface exposes eight methods to write logs to the eight RFC 5424 levels (debug, info, notice, warning, error, critical, alert, emergency). Every method accepts a string as the message, or an object with a toString() method. Implementors MAY have special handling for the passed objects. If that is not the case, implementors MUST cast it to a string. The interfaces and classes described as well as relevant exception classes and a test suite to verify your implementation are provided as part of the psr/log package. Note that this is not a logger of its own. It is merely an interface that describes a logger. You can pick one of the implementations of the interface to get a logger. If you want to implement the interface, you can require this package and implement Psr\Log\LoggerInterface in your code. -

logspout
Log routing for Docker container logs
Logspout is a log router for Docker containers that runs inside Docker. It attaches to all containers on a host, then routes their logs wherever you want. It also has an extensible module system. It's a mostly stateless log appliance. It's not meant for managing log files or looking at history. It is just a means to get your logs out to live somewhere else, where they belong. For now it only captures stdout and stderr, but a module to collect container syslog is planned. Logspout is a very small Docker container (15.2MB virtual, based on Alpine). The simplest way to use logspout is to just take all logs and ship to a remote syslog. Just pass a syslog URI (or several comma separated URIs) as the command. Here we show use of the tls encrypted transport option in the URI. You can tell logspout to ignore specific containers by setting an environment variable when starting your container. -

There is always this friction when it comes to debugging native apps: you can’t inspect anything that happens behind the scenes unless you use special tools, not even network requests. That’s not the case on the web with tools like Safari Web Inspector. I wanted to bring something similar to native apps. What is Pulse? It’s a persistent logger with a network inspector, but not just a tool. It’s also a framework. PulseCore.framework (iOS, macOS, watchOS, tvOS) provides a logger itself and a network proxy for automatically capturing network requests. PulseUI.framework (iOS, macOS, watchOS, tvOS) containing all the UI components you’ll see on the screenshots. Document-based Pulse apps (iOS, macOS) to view logs shared from other devices. As a developer, you integrate the frameworks into your app and configure them to capture logs and network traffic. You then add a way to display a Pulse console to view logs right on the device. -

Multi pod and container log tailing for Kubernetes
Stern allows you to tail multiple pods on Kubernetes and multiple containers within the pod. Each result is color-coded for quicker debugging. The query is a regular expression so the pod name can easily be filtered and you don't need to specify the exact id (for instance omitting the deployment id). If a pod is deleted it gets removed from tail and if a new pod is added it automatically gets tailed. When a pod contains multiple containers Stern can tail all of them too without having to do this manually for each one. Simply specify the container flag to limit what containers to show. By default all containers are listened to. If you don't want to build from source go grab a binary release. Govendor is required to install vendored dependencies. On macOS, you can also install Stern using Homebrew. -

A logger for just about everything
Winston is designed to be a simple and universal logging library with support for multiple transports. A transport is essentially a storage device for your logs. Each winston logger can have multiple transports (see: Transports) configured at different levels (see: Logging levels). For example, one may want error logs to be stored in a persistent remote location (like a database), but all logs output to the console or a local file. Winston aims to decouple parts of the logging process to make it more flexible and extensible. Attention is given to supporting flexibility in log formatting (see: Formats) & levels (see: Using custom logging levels), and ensuring those APIs decoupled from the implementation of transport logging (i.e. how the logs are stored / indexed, see: Adding Custom Transports) to the API that they exposed to the programmer. -
