    Evolution Strategies Starter

    Evolution Strategies Starter

Code for the paper "Evolution Strategies.."

evolution-strategies-starter is an archived OpenAI research project that provides a distributed implementation of the algorithm described in the paper “Evolution Strategies as a Scalable Alternative to Reinforcement Learning” by Tim Salimans, Jonathan Ho, Xi Chen, and Ilya Sutskever. The repository demonstrates how to scale Evolution Strategies (ES) for reinforcement learning tasks using a master-worker architecture, where the master node broadcasts parameters to multiple workers, and the workers return performance results after evaluation. This approach allows for efficient parallelization and robustness against worker termination, making it ideal for distributed execution on Amazon EC2 spot instances. The codebase supports building custom AMIs with Packer, integrates with MuJoCo for simulation-based experiments, and includes scripts for launching and managing large-scale runs. ...

    Finetune Transformer LM

    Finetune Transformer LM

Code for "Improving Language Understanding by Generative Pre-Training"

finetune-transformer-lm is a research codebase that accompanies the paper “Improving Language Understanding by Generative Pre-Training,” providing a minimal implementation focused on fine-tuning a transformer language model for evaluation tasks. The repository centers on reproducing the ROCStories Cloze Test result and includes a single-command training workflow to run the experiment end to end. It documents that runs are non-deterministic due to certain GPU operations and reports a median accuracy over multiple trials that is slightly below the single-run result in the paper, reflecting expected variance in practice. ...

    X10

    Performance and Productivity at Scale

...To support concurrency and distribution, X10 uses the Asynchronous Partitioned Global Address Space programming model (APGAS). This model introduces two key concepts -- places and asynchronous tasks -- and a few mechanisms for coordination. With these, APGAS can express both regular and irregular parallelism, message-passing-style and active-message-style computations, fork-join and bulk-synchronous parallelism. Both its modern, type-safe sequential core and simple programming model for concurrency and distribution contribute to making X10 a high-productivity language in the HPC and Big Data spaces. ...

    HSRA

Hadoop spliced read aligner for RNA-seq data

...RNA-seq analyses typically begin by mapping reads to a reference genome in order to determine the location from which the reads were originated, which is a very time-consuming step. This tool allows bioinformatics researchers to efficiently distribute their mapping tasks over the nodes of a cluster by combining a fast multithreaded spliced aligner (HISAT2) with Apache Hadoop, which is a distributed computing framework for scalable Big Data processing. HSRA currently supports single-end and paired-end read alignments from FASTQ/FASTA datasets. Moreover, our tool uses the Hadoop Sequence Parser (HSP) library (link above) to efficiently read the input datasets stored on the Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS), being able to process datasets compressed with Gzip and BZip2 codecs.

XGAP - XML Generator of APplications

XGAP is a PHP web application generator

XGAP stands for "Xml - Generador de APlicaciones". The primary goal of XGAP is to assist the programmer in the repetitive and common coding tasks. That's why XGAP concentrates more in specifying an application than in programming it. You program a web application using XGAP by creating a set of XML files that describe it. Those XML files are taken by the generator and the PHP files are created by means of XSLT sheets. XGAP was born in 2003 at the UNICEN University as a tool for creating web applications for the intranet. ...

    CoRTOS Simple Cooperative Embedded RTOS

A truly simple cooperative RTOS for bare-metal embedded applications

...Its advantages over other systems are that it is fully documented with a manual and examples, is easy to understand and use and is astonishingly simple - the kernel is just 16 lines of C. It is intended for smaller microprocessors, such as the AVR, MSP430, PIC24 and Cortex M0+, and smaller systems of maybe a dozen tasks. CoRTOS is not a task scheduler. CoRTOS works like any other RTOS. Tasks schedule themselves, picking up where they left off after making a call to the OS. The intended audience includes: • Those needing a small footprint RTOS; • Students learning about real time systems; • Makers wanting to program "close to the metal." ...

    Ponder

    Ponder

C++ reflection library with Lua binding, and JSON and XML

...By wrapping all these concepts into abstract structures, Ponder provides an extra layer of flexibility to programs and allows them to expose and manipulate their data structures at runtime. Many applications can take advantage of Ponder, in order to automate tasks that would otherwise require a huge amount of work. For example, Ponder can be used to expose and edit objects' attributes in a graphical user interface. It can also be used to do automatic binding of C++ classes to script languages such as Python or Lua. Another possible application would be the serialization of objects to XML, text or binary formats. ...

    BNNPT

A powerful method for nonlinear dependence of two continuous variables

Testing dependence/correlation of two variables is one of the fundamental tasks in statistics. In this work, we proposed a powerful method for nonlinear dependence of two continuous variables (X and Y). We addressed this research question by using BNNPT (Bagging Nearest-Neighbor Prediction Test, software available at https://sourceforge.net/projects/bnnpt/). In the BNNPT framework, we first used the value of X to construct a bagging neighborhood structure.

    Recompose

    Recompose

React utility belt for function components and higher-order components

...Recompose focuses on higher-order components. HoCs are functions that accept a base component and return a new component with additional functionality. They can be used to abstract common tasks into reusable pieces. Recompose provides a toolkit of helper functions for creating higher-order components. Many React libraries end up implementing the same utilities over and over again, like shallowEqual and getDisplayName. Recompose provides these utilities for you. Although Recompose encourages the use of function components whenever possible it works with normal React components.

    Build Time Tracker Plugin

    Build Time Tracker Plugin

Gradle plugin to continuously track and report your build times

...This plugin only measures the task times that constitute a build. Specifically, it does not measure the time in configuration at the start of a Gradle run. This means that the time to execute a build with very fast tasks is not accurately represented in output because it is dominated by the time in configuration instead.
