If you want to build NBFC from source, the first thing you have to do is to download the source code. You can easily clone the NBFC repository via git. Make sure the Mono runtime + development tools are installed on your machine (Debian based distros: mono-complete, Arch based distros: mono). Config files are an integral part of NBFC, because they define how NBFC interacts with your notebook's embedded controller (EC). The EC monitors your system's temperatures and controls the fan(s). It sits on the motherboard or is integrated into a Super I/O chip & is connected to the Southbridge via the Low Pin Count (LPC) bus.

The daemon must be started in order for anything to work, however, the GUI is unnecessary. If you have existing settings, they should apply when the daemon starts. The requirements to build OpenTabletDriver are consistent across all platforms. Running OpenTabletDriver on each platform requires different dependencies. Run build.ps1 to produce binary builds to 'bin' folder. These builds will run in portable mode by default.

SIV is designed for Windows 11, 10, 8, 7, Vista, XP, 2012, 2008, 2003, 2000 and NT4. Windows 95, 98 and Me are also supported. SIV can also be used to control AIO devices, such as fans and LEDs. To do this, you need to specify the -AIOCTL command line qualifier. When -AIOCTL is specified, SIV will automatically do the EnhancedPowerManagementEnabled registry change and restart the USB device. SIV (System Information Viewer) uses pcidevs.txt for the PCI devices, usbdevs.txt for the USB devices, and mondevs.txt for monitoring pcmdevs.txt PCMCIA device descriptions.

Although the default installation uses SQL Server and polling technique to fetch jobs, you can leverage MSMQ or Redis extensions to reduce the processing latency to minimum. Background method calls and their arguments are serialized and may overcome the process boundaries. Job filters allow you to add custom features to the background processing in a way similar to ASP.NET MVC action filters.
