OptiPNG is a PNG optimizer that recompresses image files to a smaller size, without losing any information. This program also converts external formats (BMP, GIF, PNM and TIFF) to optimized PNG, and performs PNG integrity checks and corrections.

Most digital cameras produce EXIF files, which are JPEG files with extra tags that contain information about the image. Refocus is a plug-in for the Gimp (the GNU Image Manipulation Program). Frequently, when processing images, e.g. scanning photo's or slides, images become slightly blurred. The Refocus Gimp plug-in can be used to "refocus" such images.
