gVirtualXRay is a C++ library to simulate X-ray imaging. It is based on the Beer-Lambert law to compute the absorption of light (i.e. photons) by 3D objects (here polygon meshes). GLUI extended GLUT to add widgets that look like Windows 95. This project replaces GLUT (and GLUI) with a rewrite and wxWidgets based canvas, with the option of using (cross platform) native windows via wxWidgets.
