UI tool for managing git repositories
Git Extensions is a standalone UI tool for managing Git repositories. It also integrates with Windows Explorer and Microsoft Visual Studio (2015/2017/2019). The full commit history can be browsed. Branches are shown using a graph which highlights commits that are included in the current revision. Explore the history of single files. Renamed and moved files are matched and shown in a single history. You do not need to mark files as renamed/moved. The system detects renamed files automatically. Find the last person that edited a specific part of a file. Double click on the line shows the commit and allows you to drill-down to other files. Version 2.x of Git Extensions runs on multiple platforms using Mono. The active community of Git Extensions is supporting Git Extensions since 2008. -

Git Credential Manager (GCM) is a secure Git credential helper built on .NET that runs on Windows, macOS, and Linux. It aims to provide a consistent and secure authentication experience, including multi-factor auth, to every major source control hosting service and platform. GCM supports (in alphabetical order) Azure DevOps, Azure DevOps Server (formerly Team Foundation Server), Bitbucket, GitHub, and GitLab. Compare to Git's built-in credential helpers (Windows: wincred, macOS: osxkeychain, Linux: gnome-keyring/libsecret), which provide single-factor authentication support for username/password only. I (was) often end up working on many directories and manually pulling updates etc. To make this routine faster, I created a simple tool to handle this job. Although the focus is batch jobs, you can still do de facto micro-management of your git repositories (e.g add/reset, stash, commit etc.) run the gitbatch command from the parent of your git repositories. For start-up options simply gitbatch --help. -

Git versions files, Dolt versions tables. It's like Git and MySQL had a baby. We also built DoltHub, a place to share Dolt databases. We host public data for free. If you want to host your own version of DoltHub, we have DoltLab. If you want us to run a Dolt server for you, we have Hosted Dolt. MySQL comes with a MySQL server called mysqld and a MySQL client called mysql. You're only interested in the client. You've heard it before, git is powerful, but what good is that power when everything is so damn hard to do? Interactive rebasing requires you to edit a goddamn TODO file in your editor? Are you kidding me? To stage part of a file you need to use a command-line program to step through each hunk and if a hunk can't be split down any further but contains code you don't want to stage, you have to edit an arcane patch file by hand? Are you KIDDING me?! Sometimes you get asked to stash your changes when switching branches only to realize that after you switch and unstash that there weren't even any conflicts and it would have been fine to just check out the branch directly? If you're a mere mortal like me and you're tired of hearing how powerful git is when in your daily life it's a powerful pain in your ass, lazygit might be for you. -

This project provides a small executable that forwards all arguments to git running inside Bash on Windows/Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL). Use Git installed in Bash on Windows/Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL) from Windows and Visual Studio Code (VSCode) The primary reason for this tool is to make the Git plugin in Visual Studio Code (VSCode) work with the git command installed in WSL. For these two to interoperate, this tool translates paths between the Windows (C:\Foo\Bar) and Linux (/mnt/c/Foo/Bar) representations. The install.bat script creates a folder structure similar to the one used by Git For Windows, and creates some useful symbolic links in the wslgit\cmd and wslgit\bin folders. VSCode will find the git executable automatically if the two optional installation steps were taken. -

A PowerShell environment for Git
posh-git is a PowerShell module which provides Git/PowerShell integration. The prompt within Git repositories can show the current branch and the state of files (additions, modifications, deletions) within. Provides tab completion for common commands when using git. Prompt formatting, among other things, can be customized. Displaying file status in the git prompt for a very large repo can be prohibitively slow. Rather than turn off file status entirely, you can disable it on a repo-by-repo basis by adding individual repository paths. PowerShell generates its prompt by executing a prompt function, if one exists. posh-git defines such a function in profile.example.ps1 that outputs the current working directory followed by an abbreviated git status. -

Watchtower
A process for automating Docker container base image updates
With watchtower you can update the running version of your containerized app simply by pushing a new image to the Docker Hub or your own image registry. Watchtower will pull down your new image, gracefully shut down your existing container and restart it with the same options that were used when it was deployed initially. Watchtower is an application that will monitor your running Docker containers and watch for changes to the images that those containers were originally started from. If watchtower detects that an image has changed, it will automatically restart the container using the new image. With watchtower you can update the running version of your containerized app simply by pushing a new image to the Docker Hub or your own image registry. Git extensions to provide high-level repository operations
git-flow is the original set of Git extensions that implements Vincent Driessen’s well-known branching model via a convenient command-line interface. Instead of memorizing the choreography, you run high-level commands like git flow init, git flow feature start/finish, git flow release start/finish, and git flow hotfix to create, merge, and tag branches following a consistent structure. The model separates long-lived master (or main) and develop branches, encourages topic branches for features, and formalizes release and hotfix flows, which helps teams coordinate work and control what reaches production. The scripts enforce naming conventions, guide merges in the right direction, and add version tags to releases so you keep a clean, auditable history. Teams often adopt git-flow to make branching and release management predictable, especially when multiple developers are shipping features and bug fixes in parallel. -

A collection of Git extensions to provide high-level repository operations for Vincent Driessen's branching model. This fork adds functionality not added to the original branch. For those who use the Bash or ZSH shell, you can use my fork of git-flow-completion which includes several additions for git-flow (AVH Edition), or you can use the original git-flow-completion project by bobthecow. Both offer tab-completion for git-flow subcommands and branch names with my fork including tab-completion for the commands not found in the original git-flow. For a wide variety of commands hooks or filters can be called before and after the command. The files should be placed in .git/hooks In the directory hooks you can find examples of all the hooks available. You can easily publish a feature you are working on. The reason can be to allow other programmers to work on it or to access it from another machine. -

SQL interface to git repositories, written in Go.
gitbase, is a SQL database interface to Git repositories. This project is now part of source{d} Community Edition, which provides the simplest way to get started with a single command. It can be used to perform SQL queries about the Git history and about the Universal AST of the code itself. gitbase is being built to work on top of any number of git repositories. gitbase implements the MySQL wire protocol, it can be accessed using any MySQL client or library from any language. The project is currently in alpha stage, meaning it's still lacking performance in a number of cases but we are working hard on getting a performant system able to process thousands of repositories in a single node. Stay tuned! gitbase was born to ease the analysis of git repositories and their source code. Also, making it MySQL compatible, we provide the maximum compatibility between languages and existing tools. -

A viewer for git and diff output
Code evolves, and we all spend time studying diffs. Delta aims to make this both efficient and enjoyable: it allows you to make extensive changes to the layout and styling of diffs, as well as allowing you to stay arbitrarily close to the default git/diff output. Language syntax highlighting with color themes. Within-line highlights based on a Levenshtein edit inference algorithm. Git style strings (foreground color, background color, font attributes) are supported for >20 stylable elements. Delta provides Stylable box/line decorations to draw attention to commit, file and hunk header sections. Support for Git's color-moved feature. Code can be copied directly from the diff. n and N keybindings to move between files in large diffs, and between diffs in log -p views. Commit hashes can be formatted as terminal hyperlinks to the GitHub/GitLab/Bitbucket page. Delta acts as a pager for git's output, and delta in turn passes its own output on to a "real" pager.
