Darik's Boot and Nuke ("DBAN") is a self-contained boot image that securely wipes hard disk drives (HDDs). DBAN is appropriate for personal use, bulk data destruction, or emergency data destruction for HDDs, but is not recommended for solid-state drives (SSDs), sanitization that requires auditable compliance documentation, or technical support.

The Ext2/Ext3/Ext4 Filesystem Utilities (e2fsprogs) contain all of the standard utilities for creating, fixing, configuring , and debugging ext2, ext3, and ext4 filesystems.

Ext2Read is an explorer like utility to explore ext2/ext3/ext4 files. It now supports LVM2 and EXT4 extents. It can be used to view and copy files and folders. It can recursively copy entire folders. It can also be used to view and copy disk and file

Open-source tool to access Amazon S3 file storage. S3cmd is a free command line tool and client for uploading, retrieving and managing data in Amazon S3 and other cloud storage service providers that use the S3 protocol, such as Google Cloud Storage. Lots of features and options have been added to s3cmd since its very first release in 2008.... we recently counted more than 60 command line options, including multipart uploads, encryption, incremental backup, s3 sync, ACL and Metadata management, S3 bucket size, bucket policies, and more!

This project serves as a collection of different free software projects that I'm working on. The major ones are currently "HFSExplorer", "DMGExtractor", and "NTFS-3G for Mac OS X".

Extundelete is a utility to undelete files from an ext3 or ext4 partition.

CDemu - a virtual CD/DVD drive for Linux. Project includes Linux kernel module & userspace utilities.

AVFS is a system, which enables all programs to look inside gzip, tar, zip, etc. files or view remote (ftp, http, dav, etc.) files, without recompiling the programs.

httpfs depends on FUSE. It uses HTTP/1.1 extensions to read arbitrary bytes from a file on a web-server. This is particular interesting for an iso, since it can be investigated (loop device) without actually downloading the whole iso.

Portable, fully-threaded I/O benchmark program

FATSort is a small utilitiy for Linux that sorts directory structures of FAT12, FAT16, FAT32 and exFAT file systems. It is written in C and can be run from the command line.

Cloud Storage FUSE is an open-source user-space file system adapter that allows Google Cloud Storage buckets to be mounted and accessed as if they were local file systems on a machine. This approach enables applications to interact with cloud storage using standard file system semantics, eliminating the need to rewrite code to use object storage APIs directly. The tool is particularly valuable in data-intensive workflows such as machine learning, where large datasets can be accessed on demand without requiring full local downloads. It supports performance optimizations like file caching, which stores frequently accessed data on local storage to significantly improve throughput and reduce latency. The system integrates with cloud-native environments such as Kubernetes and can be used in distributed architectures where multiple compute nodes access shared datasets.

WipeFreeSpace is a program to securely erase/wipe/overwrite/shred the free space on file systems WITHOUT DESTROYING EXISTING FILES, to prevent recovery of deleted sensitive data. This allows protecting the user's privacy when e.g. selling the drive or the whole computer. The following filesystems are supported: - Ext2/3/4, - NTFS, - XFS, - ReiserFSv3/4, - FAT12/16/32, - MinixFS1/2, - JFS, - HFS/HFS+, - OCFS. The following wiping methods are supported: Gutmann-like, random, Schneier, DoD. Additionally, WipeFreeSpace can finalize wiping the filesystem by writing blocks of zeros, which is friendly for sparse files, virtual systems and other places where zeroed-out space is not physically allocated. To prevent clear-text data from being left on the drive in the first place, you can use LibSecRm (https://libsecrm.sourceforge.io), which wipes the data on-the-fly.

The Sleuth Kit is a C++ library and collection of open source file system forensics tools that allow you to, among other things, view allocated and deleted data from NTFS, FAT, FFS, EXT2, Ext3, HFS+, and ISO9660 images.

s3fs allows Linux, macOS, and FreeBSD to mount an S3 bucket via FUSE. s3fs preserves the native object format for files, allowing use of other tools like AWS CLI. Large subset of POSIX including reading/writing files, directories, symlinks, mode, uid/gid, and extended attributes. Compatible with Amazon S3, and other S3-based object stores. Allows random writes and appends, large files via multi-part upload, and renames via server-side copy. User-specified regions, including Amazon GovCloud. Many systems provide pre-built packages. s3fs supports the standard AWS credentials file stored in the credentials folder. Alternatively, s3fs supports a custom passwd file. The default location for the s3fs password file can be created. Generally S3 cannot offer the same performance or semantics as a local file system.

The Xbox Linux Project aims to privide a version of GNU/Linux for the Xbox, so that it can be used as an ordinary computer. Linux should make use of all Xbox hardware and allow to install and run software from standard i386 Linux distributions.

phpFileManager is a complete filesystem management tool on a single file. A server administration tool using PHP, meant for rapid file access, and also to verify the server configuration and security. The script can be renamed and deployed on an unique known url, and offers password protection.. All dependencies, like images, js and css files, are included inside the same file, so that the script can run even on offline devices, like a local Raspberry Pi, or ESP32 microcontroller. The size of the script is bellow 1Mb, and i want to make it even smaller. To conclude, this script is also a repository of several hand made functions, organized in sections, meant for learning PHP and explore all PHP capabilities. romfs is a read-only, space-efficient linux filesystem, and this is a place for test kernel patches, and user space tools to manage filesystems in this format.
