The goal was to create a MAME front end that was simple, as easy as possible to get into, and had some good documentation. It doesn't provide access to every single MAME option, but pretty much all of the relevant ones you will use from day-to-day. You are free to distribute pfeMAME and modify its source as you wish, however pfeMAME is not to be sold or repackaged for commercial sale.

To disassemble a file you have to use medusa_text or qMedusa. Medusa requires the following libraries: boost >= 1.55 (system, filesystem, thread, date_time), OGDF (required git), and Qt5 >= 5.2 for the GUI. You also need CMake for compilation and a C++11 compiler (VS2015 update 2 on Windows). Git is optional but allows to clone remote repository for specific features. If you do not wish to install the various dependencies on your system, you can use this docker image instead. Even though it is working out of the box, you may want to customize it to suit your needs or for added security (e.g. restrict ssh access to public key authentication only).

    NES emulator written entirely in Go, aimed at accurately reproducing classic Nintendo Entertainment System games in a modern, cross-platform environment. It reimplements the NES hardware in software, including CPU, PPU (graphics), and APU (audio), and then presents the output using OpenGL for video and PortAudio for sound. The emulator supports a menu mode where, if you point it at a directory instead of a single ROM, it scans all ROMs and shows a game selection screen with thumbnails fetched from an online database keyed by each ROM’s MD5 hash. Once a ROM is chosen, the emulator maps keyboard controls to NES inputs and also supports USB joysticks, letting you play with a gamepad instead of just the keyboard. Under the hood it implements several common NES cartridge mappers such as NROM, MMC1, UNROM, CNROM, MMC3, and AOROM, which together cover the majority of NES titles in circulation.

It documented limitations typical of a preview—graphics features, sensor fidelity, and compatibility quirks—while outlining the path to parity with established macOS targets. Developers could test app installs, basic input, and network scenarios to validate their toolchains ahead of mainstream IDE support. The project also served as a staging ground for feedback on Hypervisor.framework usage, Metal rendering, and system image formats for ARM guests. Although superseded by stable emulator releases, it remains a useful historical reference for how Android tooling crossed the Apple Silicon transition.

    Coffee GB is a Gameboy Color emulator written in Java 8. It's meant to be a development exercise. More info can be found in the blog post. First I implemented all the Gameboy CPU opcodes. It’s not exactly the Z80, but it’s pretty close. As a reference, I’ve used the GameBoy CPU Manual - later on I discovered that it has a few typos and is not specific enough for some of the operations. After implementing the opcodes and memory (modelled by an int[] array) I was eager to check whether it’s possible to run some code on it. I had neither the cartridge nor the GPU emulation yet, so even the simplest game wouldn’t be an option. However, when the original Gameboy starts, it executes a simple 256-bytes program, a kind of firmware displaying the Nintendo logo and self-testing the system. That was exactly the thing I was looking for - after just 3 days I had an application running the Gameboy code!
