    stellarics

Inverse Compton emission from heliospheres of sun and stars

Cosmic ray electrons scatter on the photon fields around stars, including the sun, to create gamma rays by the inverse Compton effect. This program computes the spectrum and angular distribution of this emission. The software also includes general-purpose routines for inverse Compton scattering on a given electron spectrum, for example for interstellar or astrophysical source modelling. Instrumented Telescope

Software for instrumenting a Dobsonian telescope

This projects hold software required for instrumenting an alt-az telescope mount. The required hardware is documented here (http://simonbox.info/index.php/astronomy). The software enables real time conversion from (measured) alt-az to ra-dec and manages a connection to Stellarium (http://www.stellarium.org/), which allows you to view where the telescope is pointing in a virtual planetarium.

    galprop_skymap_convert

Convert galprop skymaps to standard healpix

A routine for converting GALPROP-generated HealPix skymaps to a compatible format which can be plotted by Aladin (v7), available from CDS at http://aladin.u-strasbg.fr. This allows free rotation of the sphere, avoiding the distortions of Aitoff and other projections often used. It is a very practical way to view and prepare skymap plots of GALPROP output. GALPROP outputs a spectrum per HealPix pixel, while Aladin requires each energy to be stored as a column. A conversion is required to make...

    gcr_convert

converts cosmic-ray files from GALPROP for viewing / plotting.

The GALPROP program (http://galprop.stanford.edu) computes cosmic-ray propagation in the Galaxy, in 2D or 3D. The ouput cosmic-ray distribution is in the form of FITS files which however are not convenient for viewing or plotting with the standard ftools program fv, since the files have 4 or 5 dimensional arrays (due to the momentum and species axes) while fv handles only 3 dimensional arrays. This program converts to fv-compatible FITS files, either from 2D to (R,z) or from 3D to (x,z) at y...
