Integer algorithms from J. Scaliger in 1583 for calendar date "math"
Josephus Justus Scaliger created the concept of Julian Day Number (named in honor of his father Julius) because he was a historian interested in resolving historical dates based on different calendars. He brought together several calendars including the Gregorian calendar in 1583 and chose a base date of 4713 BC January 1 from which to number all days. He chose that date as one common to the then common calendars he wanted to reconcile. He also devised an algorithm using integer calculations only to convert a date in the modern Gregorian calendar to a Julian Day Number and back again. Using Scaliger's algorithms, you can calculate the number of days between any two calendar dates by converting each date into its unique Julian Day Number and then finding the difference in days between them. ... -

this is a compiler wrapper made to wrap - borland c++ 5.5.1 (no longer available, *bc*) - DJGPP (gp.cmd,older gp.bat,*gp*) - mingw and mingw-w64 compilers (install-compilers.cmd, zap*, *gw2*) - mingw-w64 vityan compiler batch files for ubuntu natty and freebsd (*gwix*) are packaged with set just above. currently, you still have to specify exe or dll even there is no extension of linux binaries. it is not setup yet for .so files. -

zsbc can work with two numeric libraries: libbc (original library of bc) and libgmp. zsbc is fully compatible with bc language and extends it for a few features like implicit powmod and automatic invmod. When running with libbc numbers lib, it works with decimal numbers (and it manages the "scale" variable = number of decimals) When running with libgmp numbers lib, it works with integers only. -
