Our Beta File Manager is All Grown Up

By

I recently attended a wedding and, as was customary, the best man stood to say a few words about the new couple. He began by introducing himself as the groom’s “little brother” but he quickly corrected that to “younger brother,” proudly pointing out that he was now the taller of the two.

We’ve got some younger siblings here at SourceForge that are now on the verge of surpassing their older counterparts. Back in April, we announced the new downloads service, bringing with it a slimmed-down file manager and some slick download statistics. The beta file manager was always looking up to the “real” file manager, not quite able to run as fast or jump as high.

Recently that changed and our beta file manager is every bit the match for his counterpart. Consequently he’s been roaming the halls humming “Anything you can do, I can do better!” It was precocious at first but now the song is stuck in everyone’s heads. In addition to leveling up his capabilities, he also got a UI makeover to ensure that you can do what you need to do as fast and smoothly as possible.

The fact is that while the beta file manager can now do everything his older brother does, he still has a thing or two to learn about operating under pressure. We’ll continue our work until we’re sure he’s ready for the real world. In the mean time, take a look below at the new tricks he’s learned, take him out for a spin, and let us know what you think.
