Flyouts are the small overlays that appear when you change volume, adjust screen brightness, toggle airplane mode, or control media playback on your PC. The stock flyout design traces back to Windows 8 and is fairly rigid — there’s no official way to tweak its appearance or behavior. If you want a fresher, more configurable interface, replacing the built-in flyout is an option.

Meet ModernFlyout (Preview)

ModernFlyout is a community-driven utility that can take over your system’s native flyout UI and present a modernized replacement. It adopts Fluent-inspired visuals (rounded corners, smooth transitions) so the controls blend better with recent Windows looks. The app is available at no cost and is maintained as an open-source project.

• Moveable placement: reposition the flyout on screen so it doesn’t cover important content.

Installing and running

Once installed, ModernFlyout runs in the background and is configurable from the system tray. While it’s active, the original flyouts are suppressed; stopping the app restores the default interface immediately. The application supports Windows 10 (version 1809 and newer) and also works on Windows 8+, but distribution is simplified around 1809 and above.
