Local, low-cost on-demand rides: Metro Flex
Metro Flex is an iPhone app built by Via Transportation that provides neighborhood on-demand transit. It lets riders travel anywhere inside the service zone for the same fare as a standard bus ride, offering a convenient, short-walk pickup model rather than door-to-door service.
Requesting a ride
- Download the Metro Flex app and register an account.
- Use the app to set your current location and destination — the phone’s GPS helps select the nearest pickup corner.
- Confirm your trip; the app will show an estimated arrival time and the nearby corner where you can meet your driver.
Why riders like it
- Quick to request trips using your phone and GPS.
- Pickup points are usually just a short walk away, keeping routes efficient.
- Estimated arrival times are displayed so you can plan your departure.
Fare structure and transfers
Metro Flex charges the same fare as a Metro bus, making it an affordable alternative to fixed-route service. Transfers to or from Metro buses and Sound Transit Link light rail are accommodated so riders can combine services.
Payment options
- Credit and debit cards are accepted inside the app.
- Transit GO Ticket purchases are supported.
- ORCA card transfers are honored for connections to buses and light rail.
Help, support, and feedback
If you need assistance, use the in-app help section or contact Metro customer support via their official channels. If the experience meets or exceeds your expectations, consider leaving a positive rating in the App Store to support the developers.
