Installing Connect for GoPro on your iPhone or iPad

You can install Connect for GoPro to your iPhone or iPad using a Mac. Before you begin, make sure your Mac is powered on and ready to join the camera’s Wi‑Fi network.

Prepare your Mac’s Wi‑Fi

  • Click the Wi‑Fi icon in the menu bar to open the network menu.
  • If the Mac shows “Disconnected” because Auto‑Connect is off, enable Auto‑Connect or manually select a network.
  • Allow the Wi‑Fi menu to scan for nearby networks until your GoPro’s network appears.
  • When you see the GoPro entry (often labelled with the camera name or model), select it to connect.

Connect the camera with the USB cable and transfer files

The USB cable included with your GoPro can be used to connect the camera to a computer for file transfer and settings adjustments. After plugging the camera into the computer, set the camera to the appropriate USB mode if prompted (some models require switching to a “USB” or “MTP” mode).

  • On Windows: open File Explorer, find the GoPro device, then navigate to the DCIM folder to copy photos and videos to your PC.
  • On macOS: open Finder and look for the GoPro device; inside you’ll typically find the DCIM and a GOPROQUIK folder—drag files from these folders to your Mac.

To save a specific video file from a browser view or linked file, right‑click the file (or the file’s link) and choose the browser’s save option, then pick a destination folder on your computer.

Viewing live footage and accessing live folders

If you’re monitoring a live stream from the camera, some GoPro setups expose a Live Folder or a stream URL. To save or share a live feed:

  • Locate the Live Folder or streaming link in the app or file browser.
  • Copy the link address if you need to paste it into another app or a browser to view or save the stream.

Other options and recommendations

If you’re looking for alternative ways to share short clips, consider social apps that let you upload or edit quickly (for example, TikTok is a commonly used free option). If you want more advanced desktop management, GoPro Quik and other media managers can simplify transferring, organizing, and editing your recordings.
