PerlPop3 is a pop3 server written entirely in Perl. It is not memory hog as other pop3 servers, and pretty fast processing thousands of mails. Can be extended to use a database (and use APOP authentication). As a script can be modified as per your needs.

PerlPop3 v1.0.2 ================ CHANGES 1.0.2 Added some security checks on username and password input, to avoid sql inyection and 'open' command execution. 1.0.1 Initial release.
We have finally come up with a publicly available release of the Perl pop3 server! Although we have been using it for a while, we have decided to open it to open-source for any other administrators that may want to change their pop3 server. Our frustrations with current pop3 implementations were in the lack of security and the use of system accounts for email users. We decided it would be best to use a database for users and this enabled us to use APOP authentication (encrypted passwords). We're very happy to make this code available, and maybe others can make other improvements on it! Please contact us if you have any problems or you need help installing it. We'll be glad to help!
- First Release This server has been used extensively, but a few changes were made for public release.
