DataMelt (or "DMelt") is an environment for numeric computation, data analysis, computational statistics, and data visualization. This Java multiplatform program is integrated with several scripting languages such as Jython (Python), Groovy, JRuby, BeanShell. DMelt can be used to plot functions and data in 2D and 3D, perform statistical tests, data mining, numeric computations, function minimization, linear algebra, solving systems of linear and differential equations. Linear, non-linear and symbolic regression are also available. Neural networks and various data-manipulation methods are integrated using powerful Java API. Elements of symbolic computations using Octave/Matlab scripting are supported.

I've just downloaded version 2.2 and it's really cool. I can run my python programs and modify them by adding classes from Java. I especially like the new feature in this release called Search Dmelt. This feature allows me to search in the huge repository of code examples of the Dmelt project. I also like the data visualization capabilities of the Java packages which are far more than I expected. I really recommend this product for data analysis and data mining.

I've found this math program by googling "histogram" and I'm very happy what it offers. This is a very advanced program to draw functions in 2D and 3D, and overlay with data. The documentation is amazing. I've found 400 examples that cover data analysis, numeric calculations, neural networks - everything I need for my thesis. I can even make EPS files using Python interface, so they can be included in my thesis written in LaTeX. I very recommend this program. I did not use Java, although this program can be used to make program in Java.
