As a workaround ./configure --disable-nls can be used. The downloadable tar.gz does indeed not build on freebsd. INTL_LIBTOOL_SUFFIX_PREFIX is missing from aclocal.m4. I did a make dist on my machine and aclocal.m4 is created so that it works on freebsd. Alex, what version of libtool&co do you use?
