Yep. That'll do it every time. :-) FWIW, VPN isn't that hard to set up... I'd never done it before when I set up the first one using Win2k Server. :-) -----Original Message----- From: Baudouin, Onno [mailto:O.P...@lj...] Sent: Tuesday, January 24, 2006 11:21 AM To: John Aldrich Subject: RE: TightVNC (latest) Running As Service on W2K3 Server Enterprise Through Cygwin SSH Tunnel, Only when not locked thx (that works, - i spent a few well hours to try to find lockout policy on the active directory users, but in the end -> it's the bloody screensaver :) - windows security -> go figure) -----Original Message----- From: John Aldrich [mailto:JAl...@co...] Sent: Mon 23/01/2006 13:48 To: Baudouin, Onno; vnc...@li... Unless Microsoft has changed things significantly in W2k3, you can just go to the desktop properites, screensaver and uncheck the "On resume password protect" checkbox. -----Original Message----- From: vnc...@li... Subject: TightVNC (latest) Running As Service on W2K3 Server Enterprise Through Cygwin SSH Tunnel, Only when not locked I hope the title pretty much sums it up. I've got a tightvnc server running (with allow loopback + only loopback connection set) as a service on a W2K3 box. I use SSH (Cygwin on server end and Putty on remote end) to create the tunnel. I can always connect to the tightvnc (ie enter password always pops up) but when the server is in lockdown mode (ie Locked) then all i get (if it doesn't say: Connection Closed)) is a totally black screen and nothing i can do changes that (moreover it tends to crash pretty soon thereafter). If the server is in unlocked mode all works fine. I've been banging my head and read lots of details on it but it's the only thing i can't find anything about... I don't really want to set up a VPN (lord knows how)... Could it be a bug? Or any tips from preventing the computer to go into locked mode (the room has a physical key which only i have anyway.... :) ) basically the tightvnc server is normally set up except with the fact it only allows loopback connections (found that setting needed to be on somewhere). Cygwin just runs fine The SSH tunnel 'tunnels' everything from port 5900 to remote 5900 (and 5901) Kind greetz Onno ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by: Splunk Inc.
