Well, I know you said you've disabled the Zone Alarm firewall, but what about the XP firewall? You might try adding ports 6800 and 6900 to the allowed ports in the XP firewall as well as specifically allowing the application. It would probably also help, if you're going to use Zone Alarm, to specifically allow both those ports and the application. -----Original Message----- From: vnc...@li... Subject: 2 problems - Port Assignment and Continual Disconnect Thanks for any insight into the matter -- I have two problems. Currently using tightvnc 1.3dev7 and winxp sp2. 1. Assignment of ports -- Using the properties/server interface, I manually set the allowed port numbers to 6900 and 6800 and click apply. I notice that if I close the properties window, and then open the window again, the display is reset to auto, and in greyed out letters the ports are reset to 5800 and 5900. Why doesnt the port option remain highlighted and the manually configured port numbers remain?? 2. Trying to connect to remote computer through ssh loopback interface (both winxp sp2 boxes), I type in the vnc password and then get a glimpse of the remote screen for maybe 1 second and then received a dialogue box stating the connection has been closed. This happens repeatedly, and Im not too sure how to prevent this behavior. I turned off the zone alarm firewall, however this didnt change the situation. I run the 1.3dev7 version on 4 computers, and this behaivor only happens on one of the computers. In troubleshooting the problem, I did uninstall and reinstall (no change in behaivor), and actually instaledl winvnc (which rectified the problem, however I dont really like winvnc). Any suggestions??
