Well, VNC can be made run under xinetd or inetd super daemon based on your distribution. You can create a VNC startup script in /etc/xinetd.d/myvnc and have the following contents service myvncserver { disable = no socket_type = stream protocol = tcp type = UNLISTED wait = no user = root server = /usr/local/X11/bin/Xvnc server_args = -rfbport 1000 /* you can add all the command line options here */ } You can enable xinetd using chkconfig .
