http://libvncserver.sourceforge.net/ provides you with VNC API. You can
use the APIs exposed by
the above library to build any code based on VNC.

The above link is the best resource to understand the rfb protocol
specification
and RealVNC is the official maintainer of the protocol.
RFB protocol does not optimize the way in which the frame buffer
updates are obtained. It only
provides a mechanism to send the updates in an efficient way.

If there is a requirement of sending moving pictures or animations
across systems,
then probably RFB may not suit your needs. You may want to use video
encoders/decoders like MPEG.
