I don't believe it will work with the root user id. I have it currently running on my redhat 9 machine, and it works fine for 4 ids, but I got the same error message. For some reason, it is not finding root user. It might be that it is looking for the /home/root, which doesn't exist. All other users directories are under the standard home directory, but root is just /root. Just a note: to setup multiply vnc sessions, you need to put it in one set of quotes. Took me a while to figure that out. VNCSERVERS="49:user1 79:user2 88:user3" These will then be autostarted at bootup. still have to do the one for root manually.
